When the smoking ban starts in England on 2nd July I know that it will be illegal to smoke in public places, bars, resturants etc... Does that apply to open places like theme parks, bus stops and even walking down the street.

Here in Wales it started on 2nd April, even though I'm a non-smoker I'm confused about it.

Maybe if smokers had given some consideration to non smokers throughout the years the ban on smoking might not have arose

Only applies to buildings. Open spaces are not covered.
2 of my friends and I have now setup an illegal unlicensed bar ready for the ban to come in. It should be great, we will pick up a lot of the regular pub trade and make a fortune. Just like an American "Speak Easy" during prohibition.

Thanks god for the liberals.

I could consider you. i'm a smoker and that i grew to become into making plans on a trip in the united kingdom. that is undesirable adequate that I could take a seat on a plane for 10 hours without smoking yet to get off the plane and have the smoking ban shoved in my face returned is outrageous. i could desire to be bringing countless thousands of greenbacks into the united kingdom yet i'm now questioning that Amsterdam could be my trip place. i understand they won't supply up me from smoking (yea i'm speaking cigarettes). If the united kingdom does not pick my money that is basically effective with me. You deserve the celebrity I gave you.

In Scotland you can smoke anywhere outside, but not in bus shelters as that's classed as a public place or outside buildings, you have to move away from the entrance. Also you cant smoke in council cars/vans or taxi's . And apparently if you have a 'working visitor'( ie..a gas man) in your own home you are not allowed to smoke! Not sure if that's true about the latter but I think that's going a wee bit to far!

Oh and you get fined £50 if you are caught dropping a butt in the street!

I'm sorry but I will stop smoking , when I want too and not when the govenment tells me.

After all drinking kills more people than smoking , so does war.

And why should the govenment pick on smokers, the country is in such a mess because of them.

Years ago smoking was the norm , Yes less people smoke now , but what gives the govenment the right to dictate such rules , put it to a vote

After all people don't like speed cameras , Council Tax , road pricing , etc. why not get rid of them as well .

Just what will be next , Air tax , pay as you breath

You can smoke outside and in your own home, however you cannot smoke INDOORS, in public places, such as, Restaurants, Pubs, Clubs, etc....

I live in Wales and for me, I think the smoking ban is Great, I can now walking into the clubhouse, for the rugby team I play for and NOT get choked to death.
