Here's the story, I'll try to make it short. I had my transmission flushed today. Nothing was wrong with the car just thought I was doing myself a service. Anyways I'm driving along the highway. The transmission blows. I pull over to the right side of the road. I leave my car there. Somebody hit my car from behind. They're hurt physically, and I'm being charged with reckless endangerment. The police said I should have called them. Would you say the police were correct in their charge, and is it some law that your supposed to call when your car brakes down. I live in Connecticut.

OK so I saw the FBorFW strip today and was wondering about the 2 years less a day sentence. Is that a standard leniency thing to allow them to stay in a provincial prison instead of federal?

I recently recieved a speeding ticket in Mississippi while driving back to Kentucky. I know that some states do not have reciprocal reporting of tickets. My question is, can I ignore the mississippi ticket? If so, does it mean I can't be caught in mississippi again, or what will happen. Also my ticket would have cost about 140 in KY but theres no list of fines for the MS ticket, I have to call someone who's never in... any idea what it is?

I know Involuntary Manslaughter is an unintentional killing that results from recklessness or criminal negligence, or from an unlawful act and is a crime in which the victim's death is unintended. But lets say you were walking with a friend and all of a sudden you trip over something and as a natural reaction you grab onto something to break your fall but that something happened to be your friend and they fall with you, they end up banging their head on a rock and die and you are perfectly ok. Would this be a form of manslaughter and if so what kind?

You are an on-duty police officer for the town of Anywhere. Your community has been struggling with a violence problem (mostly drug-related shootings & murders) for decades. More than 98% of the perpetrators are African-American males who wear sunglasses at night, drive "pimped" cars, and play Rap music on the car stereo. The crimes typically happen after Midnight in neighborhoods close to public housing developments.

It is 2:00am and you are only two blocks from a public housing development. You spot a 2-door Cadillac low-rider headed in the direction of the development and decide to follow. Upon approach, you see several African-American males inside the car. They are wearing sunglasses. Rap music is clearly audible through the open windows.

They have not commited a voilation of the law you have observed.

This is something USA police face every day: Do your job - or don't do it because it's politically easier. Who pays?

okay, this guy was staying at mine and my bf's apartment and they got into an arguement. my bf threw his friends coffee table off the 3rd floor balcony. his friends mom called the cops and told them that and some other stuff she made up. my bf never got court papers and was arrested. (in may) we bonded him out and they still never sent the court papers! so he has a warrant obviously. he called the courthouse today, and he's charged with criminal mischief. it is a misdemeanor. he cannot get his court date reset. he has to turn hisself in. he supposedly broke the coffee table, ruined a couch, and a kitchen chair. idk if it is relevant but the state we're in is indiana. i need to know, after he goes to court, would he be given time? or just fines? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

pills. My son called me..scarred and had me call 911. This girl's boyfriend was just hit by a car and killed about 4 weeks ago so I know she is going through a horrible time. My question is, since I called the police, are the police obligated to contact the mother that they were called out to check on her daughter for a suicide attempt? I just want to make sure her mother knows because if she doesn't, I feel she has the right to know. She called my son right back and said that she had thrown the pills up, but my son told her that I had already called for help. She is also 15.
Thanks

Warning some comments might be used in an English paper.

The United States spends 350 trillion dollars of tax money per year to keep drugs and drug dealers and makers off the streets. If we legalized drugs Americans would have to spend less money for taxes, be safer because there would be no need for gangs to kill over illegal drugs, and so on. So why can’t we combat something illegal by making it legal. We would save so much money and I believe the United States would be a safer place to live. What do you think? Yes or no. why or why not. Let me know please.

Purely hypothetical question... let's say the cops try to pull over a motorcyclist riding a large displacement sport bike. The biker takes off when he sees the blue lights and disappears into the horizon. BUT, the cops manage to get his plate number first. Will they legally be able to prosecute the registered owner based on that information? The owner would probably argue that he wasn't the driver of the motorcycle at the time the offense occured.
