Truancy is a misdemeanor offense and considered a youth crime, meaning that Truancy can not be committed by an adult.

You will go to a youth court or juvenile court. You will need either a parent or a legal guardian. If your older brother is not your legal guardian he will not be allowed to speak for you.

Since this is a first offense, I suspect you will get a suspended fine or sentence and required to go to school.

Continued violations will get you a stay in a Juvenile Detention Center. You do not want to go there.

At 17, you belong in school. Probably just a fine, maybe suspention of lisence. And your 18 year old brother can only go as quardian if your parents right up noterized letter giving him permission to act on their behalf in this situation. So if your figuring your parents won't have to know, that rules that out. Good luck and go to school. You'll be glad in a few years that you did. Oh, and if you work, and a work permit is required in your state, they can suspend your work permit till you show that you can attend school regularly.

Reading your post, I suggest you need to be in school. Stop screwing around and make something of yourself or you'll be sleeping under bridges or dead.
