If you are involved with a crime, your identity is not released to the public until the investigation (and sometimes trial) is over. In the case of minors, your information is never released. It is to protesct people from public retaliation. That's why.

Because when you're on TV, ANYONE can see you who is watching TV. And that goes a little past your privacy. Once you go outside, that means letting anyone see you, that can physically see you within range. And i'm sure that when people go outside, they dont plan to end up on COPS. Most people wouldn't exaclt enjoy seeing their face on national TV getting arrested for doing something stupid. Also, they blur peoples faces to keep from getting sued. If you don't have a person's consent, you can't put them on TV...put their name in a book...etc.

Sometimes it is a matter of age. If it's a minor, they'll blur the image. If it's an offensive word on someone's T-shirt, they'll blur the T-shirt.
Remember, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

the blurring of the dog was a subtle joke by the editors...the faces are blurred because if a persons image or likeness is used and money is made...that person is entitled to a portion of it...its all about the$$.

alot of cops is staged or re-shot to get the effect they want.
And it is not a news show but an entertainment show, so they have to have permission to use the people.
After watching them film one time in Atlanta, I have never watched them again, after I saw how they filmed it.
