yes it is and it is all because of 9/11, if we want to stop it we need to expose the truth because it was the pretext for everything that has occured since.

Every now and then I catch some radio or TV program doing some variant of a "Man of the Street" interview. These people are asked questions about people in government or some important social issue. It is appalling to hear these people unable to give a correct answer about who the President is, who is on the Supreme Court, and no one seems to know who is in the Cabinet. Most people don't even know why they vote for the people they elect. Most of what they think they know comes from whatever insipid "news" program they accidentally heard.
The sad reality for most of America is that whether the country becomes a police state or a free state is irrelevant to them; they would not know the difference.

It only seems like a police state because you're a lib and there's a Republican president. It seemed like more of a police state to me when Clinton was running the show. Look at the Waco situation. The people in the compound were certifiable nutcases, so the feds could do anything they wanted to them and not arouse public indignation. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the whole thing start when the feds decided to break into the house without warning to sieze some guns that were legal and had been legally purchased?

Yes, so be careful about what you say on the Internet, where you travel, what groups you hold membership in, etc.

You have to be kidding. You can criticize the government all you want, you can be an illegal alien (and drive without an license) with impunity. What are you talking about. If this were a police state and we were on here bad-mouthing the government, what do you think would happen?

I got an idea. All you liberal, anti-cop, government hating left wing wack jobs stop calling 911! Oh wait, that's right, it's only a police state when the police do their job without your express permission.

Another thing. STOP BREAKING THE LAW!!! If that were to happen, I would be out of a job.

Damn the injustice of it all!!!

A close friend said it best yesterday, "It trips me out to hear people say this and that about America is becoming a police state because, to me, America has always been a police state." He is 32 years old and I see it the same way.

On a side note, even Benjamin Franklin knew the deal when he said that anyone willing to give up their Liberty for Security deserve neither.

The patriot acts have shredded our constitution and eliminated civil rights that we took for granted as a given in this country. Both Democrats and Republicans should be booted out of office for voting for this vulgar act that they had not even read.

I always assumed that our country would never take action to prosecute based upon the idea that someone might commit a crime in the future... or that we would imprison and torture people indefinitely without respect for human rights.

We are accelerated toward a police state every time there is a catalyzing event like 9/11 (regardless of who you think did it). I'm disappointed that our congress has not stood up to our overly aggressive executive branch.

We cannot count on mass media to get out the whole truth. America is slowly starting to treat its citizens like the population of a third-rate dictatorship. The justice you receive in this country seems to depend a on your socio-economic status.

Fabrication of events, spin, manufactured news, and 'dirty tricks' are becoming part of our reality.

Yes, I believe that it is getting there,if it isn't there already. The Americxan people have to get off their duffs and curtail this cancerous apathy which is killing America.Thing that the government are doing wrong should be address with a resounding voice of the majority, and action should be taken to correct these things. The ONLY reason why Big Brother is as big as he is, is because people just worry about themselves.

Apparently you do not know what a police state is.

I'm not saying that tomorrow the FBI will knock on our doors and take us away, but I think if we're not careful the US could eventually become a police state.

What are we doing wrong? We're giving up too much privacy! It might seem like it will make us safer, but it could also make it easier for us to be controlled.

This probably sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, but I'm not saying its going to happen, I'm just saying we should be careful with what freedom we give up and with how much power we give the government!

In my opinion, the government should never have the right to kill, and the patriot act is terrifying.

Yes, but we are doing it to ourselves.
Obey the law. Or you have the right to remain silent.
911 was just the beginning. Soon there will be no privacy, no true rights. The media is to blame for a lot of it. They give us more than we need to know, therefore, leaving us to want to know more.

And please vote as you believe, at least you have that without someone telling you what to do. For now!
