I recently failed on my first try and I'm thinking that i don't need it the second time around because they might have it on file and everything.

You definitely need to carry both with you once again. Many states require proof of insurace as well. Good luck this go around.

Better bring it to be on the safe side.It is always better to have the documents, rather than having to go home and retrieve them.
