I am deeply offended. My parents are immigrants from Italy and I am tired of people thinking they deserve more rights because they belong to a group, this is not the American way or what the constitution is supposed to be about?!

This all stems from a conversation on whether or not the government should be using our tax dollars to subsidize things that some of us may not agree with. For example subsidizing abortion as population control, subsidizing certain groups...I think that this collectivist concept causes us to be more divided. However, I also think that the government has no right to make laws regarding social and moral issues. Period!

We get our rights from our creator because we are individuals. That is what this country is supposed to be about. Now it is only about the Federal government telling us who gets what because they are part of some group.

Collectivism is inherently racist and I think it is a horrible concept to build a country upon. What say you

Absolutely not, well except in America. Land of the free? Give me a break. More like, land of the vengeful and greedy.

recently bought a no tears shampoo that burned my eyes and my 2 year olds. emailed complaint and got a refund check for the product, $3.99. I wish to return check with letter stating that this is an inadequate compensation. I am not looking for tons of $$$$, but 3.99 is just an insult, if it were your kids I am sure it would upset you that Johnson and Johnson put a 3.99 sales tag on your daughters eyes. any suggestions? thanks ahead of time :)

Is it legal for an employer to automatically enroll an employee in benefit coverage? 401(k) - yes. But medical coverage? Paperwork was given to a new hire and the employee did not decline or enroll in coverage because he already had medical coverage through his spouse's employer. His employer now takes a deduction from every paycheck for medical and says it is because he did not decline coverage. He was auto-enrolled and cannot drop or change his coverage until open enrollment a year from now. He didn't WANT coverage and is now PAYING FOR coverage he does not use. Paying twice - through his AND his spouses employer. As well, he has to let his other carrier know about the coverage, which potentially causes issues regarding who has to cover the treatment. It's a mess. Is it legal? Does the employee have ANY recourse? Or does he just have to pay for this all year when he never signed anything opting for coverage? If you have any input, please let me know. I appreciate the advice!

Things are like i am a college student, found a part-timed job in a restaurant few month ago. Two month after, i was terminated without any reason and explaination, and I am absolutly sure i never done anything wrong and brought anybody trouble. Just one day my schedule suddenly getting less and less, til i compeltly disappeared from it. They used to put me as a full-time one, so i had to give up my another job, and my summer school class. After they hired few more people, just kicked me out without any notice. Two weeks i got no work, and it took me another 2-3 weeks to find another job. I have bills coming everyday, that makes me a big financial gap. That job screw up my everything and left me a entire month without income. I realize there is no legal action i can take. but, is this fair they can hire anybody, as many as they want for temporaly need without notice, and later just kick them out ignore how much troubles they would bring to others? what can i do??

Here is the short version unless I get carried away. I was married to my first husband and we divorced shortly after our child turned a yr old. He was abusive towards me and not accepting of our daughter who was handicapped due to a brain injury substained in a car accident. For 14yrs 6 months and 3 days he never once picked up a phone to ask how she was doing, during all email exchanges he never asked how she was(i kept him updated on all her medical care and so forth)he never came to visit her even when we were only 5 blocks away at my sisters house, sent her 1 birthday card for her 1st birthday a month late and 1 xmas gift about 8 yrs ago (his then wife sent it he didnt). In 12-2003 my daughter was diagnosised as terminally ill and put on the national list for organ transplant. Again he was informed of this again he didnt visit, call, email or nothing if they were in the same room together he wouldnt know who she was and that isnt me being mean its being honest. When I got pregnant

And that the people killed him and then Killed the 7 month old too. I am sorry, for all the bleeding hearts out there, but when they catch these people (if they are caught alive) They should be hanged after being found guilty! I cannot see how ANYONE could justify their life's worth after doing something so evil as killing a 7 month old (the kid was still in the car seat).

If the police do not read them to a suspect, all it means is that any statements given by the suspect can be dismissed in court.

But shouldn't it be your responsibility to inform yourself of your constitutionally protected 5th amendment rights? If you don't know your rights then you can't defend them, and if you can't defend them then you don't have any left. I don't think that's the cop's job to do that for you.

As a side note, I think it's curious that Ernesto Miranda was still convicted of the original kidnapping and rape charges after the Supreme Court case resulting in the warnings that currently bear his name, as it turned out that the State of Arizona had ample evidence to the crimes he was accused of committing. Following his release from prison, his murderer refused to make a statement to the police after being read his Miranda Rights, and the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Irony?

On 9/8/2007 I purchased a motorcycle from a person in Des Moines IA, I purchased this via a loan thru Navy Fed. Credit Union. They gave me a check which I was to endorse on the back, of which I didn't realise, The seller took the check and cashed it later at US Bank, and noone at that bank noticed the discrepency. Friday (9/14/2007) I called Navy Fed. and they stated that the payment was made to his account but it probably hasn't cleared his bank yet. Us bank also told the seller that the funds cleared. Apparently later that day Navy Fed. either took the funds back or never truely credited the money. Today (9/18/2007) the seller calls up telling me that the check didn't clear and that he bounce a bunch of checks because of it (around 250 in overdraft fees), and he want's me to pay for these overdraft fees. I also contacted Navy Fed. today and they stated that they never paid the check.

I'm not here to argue wither O.J. is innocent or guilty - mute point, also, mute point on the civil case too. But when are you respecting the lost of a loved one or when do you cross the line and are using the lost of a loved one to benefit yourself? At this point the Goldman's hounding O.J. is crossing the line (of course this is my opinion and yes, I have experience in a violent crime happening to my family and I and changing our lives forever - so, the Goldmans are not alone in that department)

Of course this is my opinion - and I have found that forgiveness and moving forward with my life is the greatest respect I can pay to my loved ones...that me brewing over it and constantly hashing it up - does not do anyone good, nor would hounding the individual who committed the crime do anything.

But besides that - the whole book deal and the public statements about O.J.s current status is sounding a little weasely...like its all been about them and what they can gain from it.

Meyer, Nap, and Cavanna establish a partnership to operate a window washing service. Meyer contributes $10,000 to the partnership, and Nap and Cavanna contribute $1000 each. The partnership agreement is silent as to how profits and losses will be shared. One month after the partnership begins operation, Nap and Cavanna vote, over Meyer's objection, to purchase another truck for the firm. Meyer believes that because he contributed $10,000, the partnership cannot make any major commitment to purchase over his objection. In addition, Meyer claims that in absence of any provision in the agreement, profits must be divided in the same ratio as capital contributions

My husband was diagnosed w/ carpal tunnel syndrome a few months ago. His job required repetitive hand movements and his condition has turned into a worker's comp claim. He has been out of work for about 6 weeks and has not received a pymt. The insurance company has required a lot of information. They have written documentation from 2 doctors stating that his condition is work related, they have the wage and dependant information. My husband tries to call the rep handling the case and gets voicemail constantly. So, my questions are: is he getting the run around and should we get a lawyer?
