And that the people killed him and then Killed the 7 month old too. I am sorry, for all the bleeding hearts out there, but when they catch these people (if they are caught alive) They should be hanged after being found guilty! I cannot see how ANYONE could justify their life's worth after doing something so evil as killing a 7 month old (the kid was still in the car seat).

My question i guess was what could justify letting these people live after doing this?

There is nothing that could justify it. In my mind those who try are aiding and abetting this child's murder.

There should be a shoot to kill on sight order for the trash who did this!

I would tend to agree, but I would need all of the facts. For instance, if there was a struggle over a weapon, and the kid ended up dead, this might change things. I'm not saying that it's excusable, I'm just saying that the INTENT must be evil in order to justify the death penalty. If these guys went in with the intent of robbing someone, and a kid ends up dying totally by accident, then the robber/killer should get life in prison.

Why do I believe this?

1) Death penalty cases cost an average of 3 million dollars. Life sentences cost an average of 300,000 dollars. It's cheaper to 'lock 'em up and throw away the key'.

2) Often a life sentence is worse than the death penalty. If you've never been locked up, you may not understand this. However, it's a proven fact that spending your life in a maximum security prison in a single man cell will rot your body and your brain. Watch a few documentaries on this. They are on the History channel all the time. It's wild to see an interview with someone that has been incarcerated for a year, and then a follow-up several years later. The inmate will slur, his vocabulary goes down to almost nothing, and his eye contact and body language is totally different. You can almost see his broken spirit, as if it were sitting beside him.

3) Killing them won't act as a deterrant to other crimes. If we lived in a society that enacted the death penalty with quick, unbending swiftness, then it would be a deterrant. For instance, if a public trial were held for all death penalty cases within a month of the crime, televised, and the decision was final, we would see a decrease in crime. But, these decisions take so long to reach, and relatively few executions result from capital offenses. A crimminal simply doesn't consider the justice system before he kills someone these days.

As much as I understand your moral outrage, I prefer to use logic. And logic dictates that, in our system, the death penalty is ineffective in most cases. That's not to say that we shouldn't use it...I really couldn't care less if these men die. But, if we are going to use it, let's make it worth the cost. Spending MORE money to prosecute this human scum isn't worth it. Think of how many lives could be saved by spending that money fighting children's cancer or putting a poor, disadvantaged youth through college.

Nothing can justify these heartless beings. These people will be caught. They will die a horribly death.

You can't...if they are found they can be put to life in prison but then they can get out for probation on good behavior so no matter what there is no justice!

If I was a police officer who found these guys I would have a "Look out he's got a gun" moment. If I found them, they would be leaving in body bags.
