If you don’t fit the definition then you are messing up the stats.

If you aren't a black American, you aren't an African-American. African-American means black American.

Certain laws in the United States were meant to benefit black Americans. It confuses things too much if a white guy claims to be an African-American. Don't be a trouble maker and don't try to seek an advantage to which you are not entitled.

Well, riddle me this-
What do they call a Caucasian African that becomes an American citizen. They can't be an African American- we already have those.
Now, if we have Italian Americans,Mexican Americans, Greek Americans- all having family ties to the former of their titles- then you have African Americans who may or may not have ties to Africa-they gain their former title only because of the color of their skin.

Did you know that Hispanics don't have boxes on most forms until real recently- that they were considered Caucasian for lots of statistical data collections.

its really not about what you checked but by how people see you for checking that box. im puertorican n if i checked the box that said asian poeple, they would prob look at me weird. unfortunately, color is a big part of being american. anyone can come up to you n say we're all equal n u can check w/e u want, but its just not like tat. america sadly runs on racism, sexism, sterotypes, etc... but its wat makes us, well, us. in other countries u r either born with authority or not.. for checkin the wrong box people may see you as a person who is tryin to prove somethin the wrong way. its just plain n simply not right

I don't think that's a problem. People have the right to check whatever they want.

Its not about origins, it's about color.

You can't have affirmitive action without racism.
