no! once you are convicted of a crime and go through the sentencing phase you cannot request a different sentence. However, you can appeal your case and request it the second time around, but that could take years of litigation and there is a slim chance your case will even make it back to the court system unless their was some faulty legal error.

You cannot. Technically commiting suicide is a crime in all states as far as I am aware. Requesting a death sentance is basically requesting premission to commiting suicide, which would be illegal.

Also, there are very strict guidelines for what crimes are allowed under state law to give a death sentance. Most states it has to be first degree murder. Under first degree murder it normally must either be commited while performing a robbery or of a particularly haneous nature (torture, stabbing a victim 50 times etc) AND be premeditated (definition of first degree murder). Since these are the only crimes that you can even get the death penalty as a sentance, most of the time if its available the DAs choose to try for it (these cases are pretty rare that can even go for the death penalty). If you wished to have the death penalty instead of life in prison without possibility of perole, you can at that time choose to not defend your case during sentancing and leave it up to the judge. However, it is still basically up to them what your punishment is

You can request, but there's no provision in the law for it to be allowed. The sentence is what it is.

If one is serious about it, you might be able to get a court to approve you making voluntary organ donations that would guarantee no chance of survival of the operation, such as donating your heart to someone. I'm not sure if there's even the slightest chance of that, but it's greater than the chance of getting the court to execute someone without such a sentence being ordered at trial.

You can only request it in those states that actually support the death penalty----TEXAS and FLORIDA for example.... in other states, you might REQUEST it but not be given it----OR, you cannot request it at all because it might not even be an option in the particular state you committed whatever crime....

Take the law into your own hands and become a vigilante. You can always commit suicide in prison.

You don't have to. Just walk up to a member of the Aryan Brotherhood and tell him his momma's black. You'll be dead in short order.
