A Sex fiend who kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old girl in an underground bunker was yesterday jailed for 421 years.

Jobless Vinson Filyaw, 37, posed as a cop to abduct Elizabeth Shoaf as she walked home from school.

He dragged her to his lair in a nearby forest, chained her to a metal pipe and repeatedly raped her for ten days.

Dozens of police and volunteers searched for the teen in Lugoff, South Carolina.

But after gaining the trust of her captor, Elizabeth was able to use his mobile phone and send an SOS text message to mum Madeline.

Cops traced the phone’s location and found her in the 15ft hole.

Elizabeth, now 15, was due to give evidence on the first day of Filyaw’s trial in Beaufort, South Carolina, but he pleaded guilty to kidnap and rape charges.

What are you thoughts on this, do you think if the penalty was death it would put people off?

My boyfriend and I got in a fight and he pushed me, then he grabbed me by the neck and shoved me again. My knee jerk reaction when he grabbed my neck was to punch him. Is that considered self defense or could I get in trouble for that?

Extra details, we were on my property, his right hand doesn't work (so he's considered disabled). He said he was going to press charges against me for assaulting a disabled person. We live in the state of Idaho if that makes a difference.

What is the penalty for mistakes that caused years of misery (harassment, invasion of privacy, ostracism, discrimination, emotional breakdown of the victim) or even death?

In the beginning of the US, you could not vote unless you were Unitarian! And in 1974, after the Civil Rights Act passage in the 60's, the US government made it "hidden" and "legal" to use religion as a hiring preference and not have to answer for that anywhere with regards to minority or otherwise, when they instituted a law, an Act, namely "The Privacy Act", which made it illegal to place or consider religion on an application for a job!

So that the "status quo" of the social engine, of the Churches of that time were allowed to hide their discriminatory practices in whispers and quiet organized outside the workplace or board room considerations or informal don't ask don't tell behind the scenes back room trustee judgements, suppressing the outsiders through oppressive treatment that had been legalized by making statistical analysis and hence witnessing and enforcement of equality in religious beliefs or creeds all but impossible to track or enforce?

Should Judges behave like feudal Lords? Most build their own sinister halos around to keep the litigants and lawyers in awe.

I just found out that I was denied an Unemployment Insurance claim and will be appealing the decision. After reading the U/I laws, it says in Section 1327 that my former employer has to submit a written response as to why I don't deserve my benefits. In order to better write my appeal, I need to know what was written about me, and what they are claiming I did. Do I have the right to get this information, and how do I do so?

Sorry....
My wife was a 2 yr probationary govrnment worker (GS-5) in San Diego ca. she was appointed in Mar 07. Today she received a letter of termination for "unsatisfactory work performance ".

In July she received a performance appraisal which states that she is "outstanding", very flexible, and is on her way to the top.
So from 31 July til today (termination) her perfomance has dropped because she has taken on special projects (which her suppervisor lauded her for in her appraisal) which is apparently led to her dismissal.

Of course these conflict, but my question is ...since she was in her probationary period, does she have any rights to fight this? also was she required to get 30 days notice before termination....Her handbook talks at length about appeals, but nothing specifically about termination. Thanks for any help.

She is in a union but has not discussed this with a union rep as of yet. What can she do???

In this Employee Breakroom, no work is performed and there is no merchandise that can be stolen. This is where employees take their "10 minute breaks" and lunches.

I believe this is an invasion of privacy and disrespectful.
I am told it is legal.
Any insight on this issue would be appreciated.
