Pros would be that the population of Canada would go up, and there might be less sex before marriage.

Cons would be that people would be sooooo not prepared for marriage and there would be even MORE divorce than there already is... which isn't cool at all...

A similar topic, but more interesting would be thoughts on polygamy.

Where you live is not important (in this case). It depends on how young the people you are referring to are. If you are say,16, what would be the purpose of this commitment/relationship? And What would be the point of marrying someone if you have no way of providing for them? Get an education, apply what you learn from school to find a career (not just a job) you would be comfortable in and then re-evaluate if you would really want to dedicate yourself to another once you have gained valuable life-experience.

The brains of young people are not fully formed (insufficiently mylenated), which means that their ability to make decisions is lacking. Therefore, as a percentage, most will make poor decisions about whom to marry, and these decisions will affect their children as well. Also, the younger and less educated a woman is when she has her first child, the more likely that child is to grow up poor, and this carries through to all her children, even if she has them later, so it's better for society for women to marry later. Read the book "Freakonomics" for more details.
