Jurisdiction. Marya Callais, a citizen of Florida, was walking near a busy street in Tallahassee one day when a large cart flew of a passing truck and hit her, resulting in numerous injures to Callais. She incurred a great deal of pain and suffering plus numerous medical expenses, and she could not work for 6 months. She wishes to sue the trucking firm for $300,000 in damages. The firm's headquartes are in Georgia, although the company does business in florida. In what court may Callais bring suit-a Florida state court, a Georgia state court, or Federal court? What factors might influence her decision?

My attorney is supposed to be fileing for a default for my case. I have never went through a lawsuit process before. He is a really great attorney and has done a great job in helping me understand most of the process and steps needed in winning my case. But I am still a little confused . So I am wondering if someone could give there opinion and advice on these questions . Thanks Robin Gist in Los Angeles

What is the next step after my attorney files for the default of my case ?

Can the company and individuals that didn't anwser my claim that was served on them still anwser the claim after the default has been entered ?

And, last but not least how long does the default process take before you get your hearing for judgement on your case? How do you get notified for your hearing for a default judgement?

Or is he exempt somehow.

Hi,
I live in Georgia, in a medium size city. The hospital in this area has a monopoly on health care in this region. Buy out other health care facilities, even buying and building an assisted living home for upper class residents. Well we are not upper class. I am on disability and my husband's work hours have been cut to 32 a week. We are struggling to pay our monthly bills on time. We made an agreement with the hospital (when my husband was working 40 hrs) to pay 100.00 a month on a medical bill we have there. By the way, we have many other hospital and doctor bills we are trying to pay on time every month besides our regular bills and expenses. We got a letter from the hospital two days ago. They said we had missed July and August payments and they would no longer except payments from us and would turn this bill over to collections or the magistrate. If that happens, they may garnish my husbands wages. Can the hospital do this? We feel like we are slowing sinking deeper into a pit

A court awarded me some money 12 yrs ago to be put into trust for when I turned 21. My mum spent it years ago and denied all knowledge till I showed her the proof. She's also watched me look for it for years and not said a word. What can I do legally to get it back?

When the tenant has signed a long-term lease (one year or more), and a couple of weeks after needs to move to another location.
If the landlord demands to be paid for the rest of the months according to the lease, he does not have a right to have another tenant and be paid again for those months.
What are some terms that deal with this?
I need more specific terms than rights of the tenant/landlord.

I need more specific terms, like "retaliatory eviction" or "warrant of habitabilty" etc., but dealing with the situation I described above. If you are in a legal field, you can probably help me.

Most helpful gets 10 points. Thank you!

My sister lost her son to the state. She actually lost him twice. Got him back once, lost him again, then started to get him back & something happened that made the state strip her rights to him. She was keeping in touch w/the family that had him (when she was trying to get him back the 2nd time). They told her they were thinking of adopting him, but he has ADHD & they said they weren't sure if they could handle him or not. Then she ended up losing her rights (it was all over little stupid things. Some people can do anything w/their kids & never lose them, but some people can sneeze wrong & get them taken, so it's not like she abused him or anything). When her rights got taken completely, that family wouldn't talk to her anymore. It's been about a year since we've seen him. My other nephew (his brthr) called the family, to see if he was still there & they told him he had no rights. I wrote a letter w/no response. Is there a way I can find where he is? I miss him so much

Seriouly, read historical origins of the so called "true religions" and you may have to give up believing in Santa Claus fairytales. To those that rebut that I dont know salvation etc..hahahaah! Thats what you've been forced to believe so you never question the peddlers of this trash and they can continue to exploit your infantile minds. Its a good cash cow $$$$$$$.

How does it do its job? And do you think it has the correct role in society and is it effective in its role?

For example, some might say that the law protects, some say it punishes. What do you think?
This is in the UK but anyone else is welcome.
