In some western countries I've heard corporal punishment, also known as spanking or smacking, is completely illegal and considered abuse or assault. However for thousands of years corporal punishment was widely used to discipline children in the in the home-and in school, in the military, and even as criminal punishment. It is still pervasive in Asia and the Middle East. Is corporal punishment a constructive way of enforcing discipline and deterring misbehavior in children and adults or does it encourage violence as a solution to problems and create mental problems? Have there been any independent studies?

Lets say that a person pays me an amount of money to transport a box from point A to point B. To make this simple lets just cut to the chase. Basically the box contains something illegal. I get pulled over or whatever and there is sufficient evidence for the box to come into play. Can I also be charged for the illegal contents of the box? Keep in mind that I had absolutely no knowledge of what was in the box, just that I was supposed to take it from point A to point B. I am not talking something like FedEx or UPS or similar types of services. This is a private transaction in all respects.

ing don't answer), how long do you wait, it just seems funny i mean really think about it
Defendent how do you plea (the judge)
silence for 1 minute
Someone then coughs (i love when that breaks a silence)
and then the judge waits and finally he submits a nolo plea. This sound really funny, like something that would happen in a comedy, plus if you don't face civil charges as though you would plea guilty then who would ever plea guilty if you could just get that fun silence nolo (no joke intended, even though i still think nolo is kinda funny).
Ok i hope i like these answers. Also please use actual facts not something Mad up (and please NO WIKIPEDIA article, i already looked it up there).
That's all.

In 2002 I was was in Baltimore fighting a case in the Circuit Courts, They decided to move it to a District Court. I pleaded guilty to a weapons charge, and got a 2 years probation suspended sentence. In 2006 I had to go get bonded for a job, when my record was pulled up there was two felony charges that was shown for this case. I never pleaded guilty to any felony charges in Baltimore, I didn't even know that this was what was on my record untill I got my G.E.D and stared wiseing up, but this is on my record and its holding my back from geting good job's.

Civil cases in this country are nothing but shakedowns. Since the plaintiff imposes the cost of defense as well as the amount of the suit, the defendant is out thousands of dollars, even if they win. If we made the losing plaintiff pay the defendant's legal and court fees, (loser pays) it would certainly make people think twice before filing an obviously frivolous lawsuit.

I was working as a janitor in the Bronx and I walked into a room and saw a guy of about 40 molesting and cutting a young girl of about 6. I punched him unconscious, tied him up to the wall pipes, bound the child's wounds, and then called the police. While waiting for them to come I treatly him very badly. Won't go into details because there are children on this site.

My question is: If he recovers, can his defense lawyer go after me for using that "extra" force? Would he be able to win? I can't afford to get sued or go to jail because I have to support my friend's family. Turns out the man was the biological father but I don't know if that makes a difference.

If one apology letter to a family results in ..."WE DON'T ACCEPT LETTERS AS SUCH AND WE HAVE TAKEN OUT LEGAL PAPERS AGAINST YOU FOR WHA TWE THINK IS A LEGITIMATE CLAIM...... Will a second one that is more formal and has a lawyer's approval work ????
I had friends...we have not seen each other for 3 months and talk only on the phone for 2 minutes to ask a question or 2 related to willyou sue me or not....who felt that a minor mistake would pay them a great deal of money in court. They threatened me and extorted money to solve the problem. Luckily I told them I would countersue them and they backed away. Now they say I owe them a better and more formal apology and perhaps some kind of present etc to overcome what I did. I did nothing except be myself and make a mistake outside of the Hindu/Sihk religion. I learned that these people are stubborn, hot tempered, arrogant and self- centered people who onlly care about money and not you or anyone.Apology means little to them.

I accept the concept of innocent until proven guilty. However, I have enough faith in our legal system to believe the average person brought to trial actually committed the act they are accused of. I think most of the time the jury trial system is more about determining whether the act was actually a crime - or whether the act meets the legal definition of the charges filed.

I also believe our legal system would collapse if we were not able to believe this. What are your thoughts?

Until a week ago we were all very good friends. I live with my boyfriend, and have been with him for 5 years. We've talked of marriage. Last week, he went with my old roomate and I out drinking, and my roomate offered to let us stay at her house b/c it was close by. I was the DD and was sober, but exhausted from being the babysitter and said ok. My boyfriend got so drunk, he puked, and passed out on the floor. My roomate was so drunk she was stumbling all over the place, but evntually got her self to bed. It was two AM by the time I fell asleep, and we woke up at 6 the next day. Two days later she called my boyfriend, told him to sit down, because she thought he had TRIED to rape her while she was sleeping, but she was unsure of what happened or how far it had gone. She aksed if he woke up with any blood on him, because she had been on her period, and he hadn't. She asked him to tell me, and he said he would, but he has no memory of the night before. What do I do?

Check it for yourselves, just because a court rules a certain way doesn't make it the law. Check Supreme court. Research for your self, and you will see the truth.

I have asked them to take me off the list. I even spoke to the supervisor whom I asked to take me off the list and that it is harassment. Still, a half an hour later, I get a call from the telemarketer from First Alliance Bank. What are my rights and can I sue the company for harassment?
