I mean he had friends, a girlfriend, a cell phone, he was aloud to get piercings, he could go out, he had his freedom, he had a mysace, and a yahoo.
He got in trouble with the cops before and is all he had to do was tell him he was kidnapped but he didnt, they drove him to his house and dropped him off.
So whyy didnt he leave.
and i dont want to hear any "in shock and scared" crap.
He wasnt in shock for four years.
i watched Oprah today, and he looked miserable for the 2nd half and fake in the 1st part.
His parents are going to shelter him.
Hes been embarrassed in front of millions of people.
Hes never going to see his girlfriend or his friends again.
I feel bad for him.

I assume you would find happiness with a 40 year-old pervert??? You would leave your family and everything you know?
I cannot believe this s***. You people are really boring with these accusations. Why don't you just take a knife and kill his parents. It's less painful.
The kid was scared, he didn't believe he had options and he adjusted to his new life. You cannot be in shock for four years. You just adjust to the circumstances and make your life less painful.
And I suppose you know everything that happened in that apartment, everything this pervert told the boy...

he could have easily runnaway..He could have called his parents,told the cops(when he got into trouble)but he was just 11 yrs old when he was kidnapped and the man may have instilled f ear in him ...nobody truly knows the circumstances and i guess no one would find out what truly went down...i also think he found a weird kind of solace with the kidnapper..i really dont know what to think of the whole situation

I think Shawn found a peacefull life with this man. We don't know the whole story yet. But I have a gut feeling that this young boy was not a happy camper with his step father and his Mother. When he looks at his step Father , he looks like he is not fond of him. Could have been he ran away or found this man on the internet and decided to run away. I hope this man never sexually abused him. Time will tell and it will be an interesting fact when we do find out the whole story. I hope this man took this kid into his life to try to help him. I don't think Shawn was happy at home. So he left.

He was stolen from his parents.
He may have been molested sexually
He was definitely threatened with a gun, as were his parents.
Anything else is Stockholm Syndrome (look it up) stuff.
The boy is hurting.

I really don't think he was happy we don't know what he was told, maybe that if he ran that he would kill his family. Maybe, he was making it the best he could, nobody really knows but him.
