I am defnitely split on the issue of the death penalty. My question is why don't we let the victims of their crimes ... or the remaining victim of their crimes have the say so in states that allow the death penalty. If your child/mother/brother, etc. were murdered and that person was going to be put to death. I think the real crimes were against the people who still remain. THEY should get to determine if that person is put to death or not AND flip the switch themselves. What do you think?

I’ve thought about it and if you look at it right the only unusual punishments are those that need modern technology and all forms of punishment can be cruel. Tell me what you think.

Hello all. Is anyone familiar enough with trust laws and able to give feedback as to the likelihood of judge granting an early termination to me of my share of trust based on the fact that I'm 41 years and face major financial hardship, whereas the trust was set up to term. When beneficiaries reach age 50. One other beneficiary recvd final distribution - my brother just turned 50, and the only other beneficiary will reach 50 within 3 years time. I am the only one who has a long wait and truly need the funds to provide for basic living and medical expenses which my lawyer can prove to be justifiable. With this information, I’m just hoping to compare your answer with that of my attorney - who's over 800 miles away in Montana, leaving me feeling somewhat in the dark - let's hope she's right and I am able to feel some peace on the subject and her ability.

Thanks ALL!

I went into my local smoke shop and the owner told me that I needed to get a hold of my ploitical connections because the state was planning on banning the importation of clove cigarettes from the Djarum Corp. out of indonesia. They were told flavored cigarettes were targeting children. Clove cigarettes have no tobacco and no carcinogens are twice as expensive as tobacco. I just can't figure out who would introduce this legislation. I smoke five cloves per day to curb nausea caused by multiple medications. I know in large quantities the can cause COPD like regular cigarettes, I have never seen an advertisement for the cigaretters I smoke. I need this basic information to proceed to the legislature and to Elliot Spitzer, future governor or at least that's what it looks like of New York

We pass a smoking bans in bars and restaurants and within months the same bans appear in Irish pubs and French cafes. How does that happen. Certainly these countries have their own health departments. In light of this I can't see Ireland making a determination, based on fact, that second hand smoke is bad. I just don't see how a country that small could even approximate our research budget. So my guess is they cloned our laws. Now they have an American law, in Ireland, based on American research. A lawer told me that Tennesse Law is subject to this. Lawmakers will look for a consensus among the seven contiguous states. Also, when we wanted a lottery in Tennessee we cloned Georgia's and hired away their director.

I can no longer work due to soft tissue injuries. If the settlement is too low, I would have to move out of state due to high cost of housing and thus could no longer attend weekly programs at my temple. Is this a "loss of society"? and can I use this to (partially) justify a dollar amount sufficient to remain in the area where I now live? (There would be additional justifications.)

In 1990, the House voted to reprimand Frank when it was revealed that Steve Gobie, a male prostitute that Rep. Frank had befriended after hiring him through a personal advertisement, claimed to have conducted a prostitution ring from Frank's apartment when he was not at home. Frank had dismissed Gobie earlier that year, and reported the incident to the House Ethics Committee, after learning of Gobie's activities.
The Boston Globe, among others, called on Frank to resign, but he refused. The House Ethics Committee recommended Frank be reprimanded because he "reflected discredit upon the House" by using his congressional office to fix 33 of Gobie's parking tickets.
And why is this and Gerry Studds, McGreevy and other liberals highly worshipped?

I just got my first speeding ticket 82 in a 55mph zone. I was going "with the flow" and wasn't passing people left and right. I was sick that morning and was on my way to the doctor, on which he gave me a slip for two days off. I've heard others stories and generally I'm a very safe driving but I'm terrified on the thought of having to go to court, what is the best way to handle this? I'm totally lost...some have told me to plead for a lesser sentence, some have said get a lawyer...any suggestions?

The Constitution clearly gives rights to U.S. citizens. Why are we so fanatical about confering rights on those who seek to do us harm? Did we consider giving civil rights to Nazis?
