Call whoever handles hot checks in CT. Depends on state laws. This happened to me in Arizona and that state specifically will NOT prosecute a bad payroll check. Yet if I were to write a hot check for $501 it would be a class C felony. California makes the check a penalty that accrues one days pay for for every work day that check is bad. Texas treats any check over $500 a class A misdemeanor.

So, it's a state thing. If the check and the employer live in CT, then that's where the real information can be obtained.

Best of luck. Employers that don't meet payroll are truly the worst.

Contact your supplier in writing soliciting for the fee as a result of you. Reiterate whilst your termination date was once and that that they had seventy two hours to ship you the investigate. Send the letter licensed, go back receipt. If you haven't bought an answer inside a fair period of time (most likely 10 industry days from the date of receipt), then touch the hard work board. At least this manner, you've the ball as you'll be able to have evidence that you simply tried to remedy the dilemma. Good success!

writing an NSF check for that much is Probably a felony, at least a misdemenor. I would notify the local police, they will arrest him, and that will encourage payment. as long as he makes the check good, you can drop the charges. In VA, anything over $250. is a misdemeanor. I had a guy arrested, and he payed with in a couple day.

You need to call the labor board again and make them aware of the fact the new check was also bad.

I would turn it over to a prosecuter. It is illegal for someone to pass bad checks it is also illegal for an employer to do it.
