My husband is 26, his was born in Canada his father is currently living in Florida with his wife and 4 other children. His father before leaving Canada (20 years ago) was order by the courts to pay $100 a month is child support. My husband has never seen a dime from him (nor did his mother, who never went after him) now his fathers "other children" are all able to go to University and get themselves established because they have the means which is something my husband could never do...he had to go straight from High School into the work force, his mother was single and poor. Can he still go after his father for the child support owed to him his whole life...he's not even seen him now in 9 years or talked to him in 5, and he has never helped with ANYTHING ever.

So my idiot brother ( drunk, doper, loser, I am soooo fed up with him!!!), here's what he tells me happened:

He came home, driving in his neighborhood, late at night. Doesn't "recall" any troubles. He denies drinking, I bet I don't believe him, but that's not the point. Continues: next day the police show up at his place, asking to see his car. Low and behold, his car is all smashed up, with red paint on it. Apparently, witnesses saw him crash into a red truck, doing serious damage. Actually got the two vehicles stuck together, and revved and revved until he got loose.
Idiot. So he got a ticket for "hit and run",with a scheduled court date.

So, what he came to big sis with, is this. Should he get a lawyer (can't afford it, and would be hitting me up for the $$$). ?? Also, is worried if he's likely to get his liscense revoked or suspended??? I don't have any idea, but it sounds likely to me.

Any experience or opinion?? And should I get him an atty, or not necessary?

I have an awful conflict. I work in auto-salvage/recycling. Some refer to my place of business as an auto "grave-yard", "bone-yard - a "junk yard" - but it is a more vital business than most realize - to the economy, and to our environment. I love my job. I've only been there for about 3 months. However, there are violations occuring on a daily basis - by health/safety and environmental standards. Every day, motor oil, antifreeze, gear-oils, transmission, brake, & power-steering fluids, among other toxins, are spilled. I am not speaking of "drips" or "leaks". There are literally gallons of "haz-mats" being spilled. The proper, and full, draining and containment that is supposed to occur - is not occuring. Attempts are made, to "clean-up", but I am sure it is not enough. I have been doused several times. 2 days have not passed (I don't recall 1 day) that I have not been cut - bled - most usually on the hands/arms - yesterday a co-worker got 10 stitches. Can I anonymously report this?

Names , addresses and pictures of recent terrorist suspects, that have been arrested, are all over the media, before they even had a chance to defend themselves !
After all , the security forces have made many mistakes recently ! and non of the arrested are convicted yet !
Of course , if they indeed planed such an attack, then they deserve all they get, but we do not know yet ! that’s what courts are for …
Do you think this is right ? Should they have been "named & shamed" so quickly, before all facts are known ?

I want to try to avoid additional legal costs so I wonder if I can include something along the lines that first to inherit in the event of my death and my husband's death will be our children? We are planning on having a family soon and want to avoid unneccessary costs. We would then name other benefactors, like nieces etc

someone asked here where could he find a Quran in English so that he can read it and some answered by saying that they 've got it and use it as toilet paper
How could christians and jewish react if i said that i ve got the bible or the torah and use them as toilet paper
but you know what i wont, because our religion teaches us how to respect other religions, it teaches us good manners, it doesn't teach us to be rude and filthy even if some happened to belong to it by name and kill innocents
So tell me is it right to do so?

I think that black people should not collect reparation checks, for they sold each other into slavery. Instead, I believe a program should be instated for those who complain about slavery, yet have not experienced it. The program should be named "Slave Labor," where we provide them with ample work opportunities, and a valuable learning experience.

What is your take?

Google has been in the news getting opposition from publishers over Googles intention to scan several libraries and make them available to the public. Are not the public libraries by making published material freely available doing the same thing?

I am not against libraries. They serve us well. With the ever growing use of computers does it not makes sence to migrate our libraries to the virtual world making information more available to a wider audience?

"No person shall make or cause to be made, any loud, disturbing or unnecessary noises such as may tend to annoy or disturb another in or about any public street, alley park or private residence"

I've got a condo neighbor that sleeps with his windows open and calls the police any time he hears somebody talking. There are 3 of us here and we sometimes open the garage door and chat while having a cigarette or a beer in the garage. Is it really possible that anything that annoys this guy can get me an enforceable city fine? I always thought they had to find a way to measure what noise is considered a legitimate violation.

explain this... at the age of 18 you can be tried as an adult, be sent to an adult penetentary, be given the death penalty, be drafted to the army and kill/be killed, you are old enough to move out and make your own choices, but you aren't allowed to consume alcohol.. does this not seem irrational?
