Names , addresses and pictures of recent terrorist suspects, that have been arrested, are all over the media, before they even had a chance to defend themselves !
After all , the security forces have made many mistakes recently ! and non of the arrested are convicted yet !
Of course , if they indeed planed such an attack, then they deserve all they get, but we do not know yet ! that’s what courts are for …
Do you think this is right ? Should they have been "named & shamed" so quickly, before all facts are known ?

Do not forget that, Police had “Good Evidence” , before they executed the poor Brazilian boy on the trains, only to find out , they were wrong !
Good evidence is not good enough !

to MEandB again,
Just check out the answers here, if you can read, and more importantly understand !
you will see, it is not what I think, it is what the majority thinks, so once again, pack your bags and go , Your are very Nazi .
This great country defeated the Nazi's and their Gestapo attitude towards freedom.
" innocent until proven guilty" is the corner stone of our civilization.
Loosing our dignity, and lowering ourselves to your level of thinking , by loosing what has made this great country and nation is not an option.
I for one will not resort to terrorism, or shooting anybody on sight, or whatever you suggest, because of hate and fear !
That is one of the terrorists aims, to convert us into people like you, and they will not win.

It's nothing to do with the police - IT WAS THE BANKS who released the names and addresses. They always do that when they 'stop' an account so as to warn EVERYBODY what they've done, and it's T.T.D. if the people concerned happen to be/not be suspected terrorists. On the other hand, with banks being such money grabbers, they don't do this sort of thing lightly because it's not exactly the best publicity!

Boo Hoo is your little boyfriend a terrorist? If good evidence is not enough what else is there a confession?Well they probably ain't catholic and the priest would not tell if they was.The law says innocent until proven guilty, well that is b/s you are guilty until proven innocent. That's why you go to jail before you go to court.
Leave pops alone he is right. If you don't like this country get the hell out.
What you think doesn't really matter.I am not a Nazi, hell I ain't even racist I'm just proud of my heritage. The terrorist need to be arrested.Just because you are in love with the cowards don't make them innocent.I hate to break you gay little heart but they got what they deserve.

I agree with you completely. If you remember the ricin plot case, the suspects had been followed, had their privacy interfered with, in fact all the things you would assume would uncover all the evidence you need to secure a conviction.
It turned out that despite all the surveillance, there was niether ricin, or evidence of a plot!
There have been many cases of such mistakes. Yet now we are supposed to believe this conspiracy theory?
I agree if they are guilty, then they deserve everything they get, but this trail by media (a very unreliable and dishonest media) is not satisfactory.
What will happen if when the trail comes ALL of these suspects are released due the the trail being compromised by the media?
Or what if they are found not guilty? These suspects, IF they are innocent, will have had their lives ruined by a pack of liars and cheats.
If they are guilty, then throw the book at them, but all the media is doing is presenting any number of different bits of alledged evidence, and then endlessly speculating as to what may have happened or been planned, but reporting it all as ABSOLUTE TRUTH!!!
Lets postulate a different hypothetical scenario:
In the MI5's attempts to secure the realm, that this gang was created, and Muslims invited to join. So as to identify possible suspects in other cases. So these muslims are then entrapped into creating a terrorist plot so as to prove to their MI5 handlers that they are in fact radicallised and capable of infiltrating other gangs or infiltrating and exposing them. This is then utilised as a way to create fear and panic so that more restrictive laws can be passed. In order to secure the realm.
Chess players recognise the gambit of sacrificing a few pawns to save a more valuable peice.
Several of the suspects involved in the planning for 7/7 where working for MI6, security exercises that day had a scenario of bombs going off in the locations and at the times of the actual explosions. This could not happen by chance.
I think it might be possible that MI5/6 are recruiting young muslims, telling them that they are taking part in top secret operations to help to disrupt other terrorist cells, getting them to pretend to be 'radicalised' making martrdom vids and then taking part in secret exercises 'as on 7/7' then being sacrificed when real explosives are exchanged for what the 'patsies' believed where fake.
This is known as a psi-op! or psychological operations.
The media get their HUGE stories, the Government gets support from the public for their constant erosion of our liberties and the security services get their budgets raised again.
Watching the friends of the detained I was struck by their body language and eye positions as they talk. There where genuinely shocked and could not believe that their friends had taken part. One said the his friend would definately have told him and try to recruit him too as this suspect was not in anyway radicallised, but the person interviewed was. If these people had been recruited by MI5, then secrecy would be paramount.
This is a big wild conspiracy theory too, yet COULD be true. I am NOT saying that it is true, but that it COULD be. and this is only 1 of hundreds of different scenarios!
So there could be many different scenarios for what is happening. Let's not assume guilt first. We have a thousand years of trial by jury for a reason.
Let a court of law decide what the truth is. The media is acting in an appalling manner and the coverage has been diabolical!

It can be a mistake to release names early; in fact it could allow them to allege that a jury can't be impartial, hence making trial impossible. However, if the police want more info, releasing the names can cause people who didn't think they had any useful information to provide to come forward. So it's a tricky balance, but I suspect that this is a deliberate tactic by the police to get more info. In this case.
For sure, the media should be very careful with any info they have that isn't formally released (and any that is!), and in general i think "naming and shaming" is pointless and wrong.

yes names and addresses is over the line. trial by media is exactly what is going on here so far. scare the daylights out of people, show pictures of long lines of the same people not allowed to bring liquids onto aircraft, and you mostly have a fait accompli.
makes you wonder what the administration is up to going into the midterm elections. and after the republicans are safely reelected in 06 that it may turn out to be the case that only one or two of these suspects turn out to actually have more operational than inspirational wherewithal.

Your question is slightly misleading but I understand what you are saying and I agree totally with you but not with your assumption that the police release names and addresses. Our media is like a virus running through all large arganisations esp gov and public offices. It is our media towards whom this question should be directed and it is our media which whips up frenzies of panic and anger in all sections of our communities.
