So my idiot brother ( drunk, doper, loser, I am soooo fed up with him!!!), here's what he tells me happened:

He came home, driving in his neighborhood, late at night. Doesn't "recall" any troubles. He denies drinking, I bet I don't believe him, but that's not the point. Continues: next day the police show up at his place, asking to see his car. Low and behold, his car is all smashed up, with red paint on it. Apparently, witnesses saw him crash into a red truck, doing serious damage. Actually got the two vehicles stuck together, and revved and revved until he got loose.
Idiot. So he got a ticket for "hit and run",with a scheduled court date.

So, what he came to big sis with, is this. Should he get a lawyer (can't afford it, and would be hitting me up for the $$$). ?? Also, is worried if he's likely to get his liscense revoked or suspended??? I don't have any idea, but it sounds likely to me.

Any experience or opinion?? And should I get him an atty, or not necessary?

I wouldn't loan him the money to get an attorney. You'll never see it again. It's a hit and run, hopefully he has insurance so that will take care of the other party. Most likely he'll get probation for his stupidity and/or a few nights at the county jail. The jails are overcrowded and this is a crime but not a serious enough crime where he'll be locked up for years.

He just need to understand that big sister can't bail him out of everything. He'll also get his license suspended for a few months but if he's lucky he can get an occupational license to drive to work if he's working otherwise, he should start getting used to taking the bus. He's lucky he wasn't caught drunk driving.

He definitely needs an attorney. If I were you, however, I wouldn't give him the money for the lawyer. If his income and assets are low enough, he might be able to qualify for a public defender at no cost. Otherwise, he needs to find a way to get the money together to pay for the lawyer himself.

He will probably lose his license for a while. I can't tell you how long the suspension will be for, since you don't give the state where this happened. He will also have a huge increase in insurance premiums for his vehicles. His current insurance company might cancel his policy, and then he'll have to go into the state high-risk insurance pool. Their rates are really high.

Like I said, I wouldn't loan/give him the money for an attorney. He'd probably never pay you back, and he'll continue to ask you for money when he gets in trouble in the future. It's time for him to grow up and take responsibility for his own actions.

Case of Tough Love, Sis. He's gotta learn to face the consequences. He's lying about not remembering, since he was awake enough to try to get out of it so hard. Like you said, he's a doper, drinker, and loser. Make him pay the piper. Experience may do him a world of turn-about good

i could call his sargent and document a criticism. of direction they're going to say that's for the officers protection. yet a recurring site visitors provide up, does no longer require you to be frisked. until eventually the officer had in all probability reason to think of something els replaced into happening. needless to say he did no longer. Or he could have made the driving force get out and be frisked additionally. Sounds to me like this cop, replaced into basically attempting to COP A sense!!

Do not, under ANY circumstances give him money.

Bailing your brother out at this point would give him a license to continue his lifestyle because sis will always be there. So, he can be as stupid as he wants to be, until he kills himself of course, because you got his back.

He can get a public defender and take his punishment like a big boy. It wouldn't hurt if you beat his azz too, just for good measure

SOUNDS LIKE HE NEEDS TO LEARN TO TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS. LET HIM GO IT ON HIS OWN, THE BRICKS WILL FALL WHERE THEY MAY. MAYBE HE WILL EVEN LEARN SOMETHING. STAY TOUGH, LOTS OF LUCK.
