Since slavery and oppression in america was about 400 years long, and equality under the law has been only about 40-50 years, what is the social responsibility of all americans to even the uneven economic playing field. Especially since the U.S became an economic powerhouse directly from the free labor of slaves.

I need to find out who owns a house in North Carolina. I know that you can look up who pay taxes on a house but I cannot seem to find it for NC. Please help my 3-year-old son got attacked by a dog while we were vacationing there and I cannot get anyone to claim that they own the house. My brother rents it (his boss rents it out but someone else in the family owns it but they will not say who) and the previous renter left his rottweilers their and one attacked my boy and I am trying to get his medical bills paid. So if anyone can help that would be great. And yes I have all ready contacted a lawyer but they can't do anything until they know who owns the house.

I signed an 18 month lease and now 6 months into the lease my landlord decides he wants to sell the house and wants me to leave as soon as possible. Meanwhile, he's showing the house to prospective buyers while I'm not there which is a little irritating. What rights do I have? Can I take the landlord to court? There is no clause in the lease stating that he can terminate the lease if he decides to sell or find a buyer. So I have to find a place and come up with security deposits all over again because current landlord will not release deposit until I'm gone and he's had a chance to look over the place.

I am the only male heir. Without my knowledge or consent, my older sister arranged to sell the house, which is in California. In her last email message, she announced: "The house has already been sold".

My brother died in February, without a will. It would be unwise to sell the house under these conditions; and, of course, any sale that might take place with no regard for the other heirs is UNLAWFUL.

Although I am now overseas, I paid the taxes that were due on the house, and I intend to live there. My younger sister, the other heir, has no interest in using the house as a residence.

The house is located in an exclusive residential area. It is a valuable asset. However; as an heir, I would never arrange to sell the house without the knowledge and consent of my two sisters. If the house should be sold at any future date, I will insure that each of them receives 1/3 of the proceeds, according to law.

What can I do to stop a sale that may already be in escrow?

A few years ago, when i was in 8th grade, some guys in my school started some kind of club, i forget the name, but it was for guys and girls who wanted to come out of the closet and admit their homosexuality. many did. a church in kansas got word of this and came all the way up to our school to protest it. our teachers told us that when we saw them, (they were in front of our school), we were not to say anything or make any gestures, because they wanted to sue us for just that. they said that was one of their only purposes was to go to rich communities, make a scene, then sue the people who flipped them off. i always wondered, could they sue us? i mean we were only 13 and 14 at the time...what could they do to us?

As an example, should you let your kid sit in jail for a DUI so they learn not to do that or should you always stick up for them right or wrong, Can you still support them even though you choose not to pay their bail? Which way is truly more supportive in the long run?

Based on my last few questions, I feel I need to go to court to get my property back... Do to the property not being worth that much, and the cost involved to get a lawyer to file this and represent me, I feel the only logical way to do this is to file myself and represent myself. So is it possible, and how would one go about doing this? This is simply a dispute over personal property. Small claims is not a possibility. SO, can I get this done myself?? Any Qualified answers would be much appreciated. Thanks!

During a national emergency the president may need to circumvent specific laws for a limited period of time, and he can obtain permission from the Supreme Court, the FISA Court, and Congress to do so.
However, President George W. Bush has repeatedly violated numerous laws and the Constitution.
His doing so sets a very bad example for the public. I have heard people say that because the president is not following the law, they are not obligated to follow the law.

The supremacy of the law in human affairs, known as the rule of law, states that individuals and nations may not (conveniently) respect the laws one day and not respect them the next. Like the law of gravity, all laws must be respected at all times, and by every member of society; from presidents, to executives, to business owners, to employees, to consumers, to homeles individuals and beggars.
The 9-11 attack and the so-called Patriot Act have intimidated Americans so much they are afraid to question the president's actions.

Ok firstable I just want to say that I never raced in illegal street racing or even watched them. For like past 2 years I didnt have any tickets at all. I was driving to the nearest seven eleven convient store from my house and I stopped at stop sign, so this car pulls up next to me and we exchanged looks and started accelarating , I dont even know what I was thinking I guess I was bored ,so I reached about 60mph and slow down to drive normally. When I got to the next stop sign this police car got out of nowhere and told me and other driver to pull over. When I pulled over I had my car impounded for 30 days $1500 to get it out , had court pleaded no contest and got ticket for $1826 and 3 years of formal probation, 2 points on my license, all this for something so minor that I see people doing it everyday. Was I charged and sentenced fairly or should I get a lawyer, I already pleaded no contest though. What is formal probation anyway. I am 20. Any info appreciated.

f so, where does this end coz surely the person that kills the killer is a killer also and therfore must be killed otherwise society is not being fair on the initial killer. in other words do you think the death penalty is right and needed, if you do think it needed then why dont we (britain) need it too,we got rid of it ages ago ad are doing just fine without it, after all to spend the next 50 years in a prison cell is much worse than getting electrocuted and not paying for your crimes at all, isnt it?
