Don't do it again. Once you have plead to the charge and were sentenced, there are only a few rare circumstances when you could get your plea withdrawn. It is too late, unless you could prove you don't have the capacity to understand what was going on.
Take some responsibility for your actions, and don't blame anyone else but yourself. Take this punishment as a lesson, although most people don't. Do not complain when you get pulled over again for street racing, because then you will really have something to cry about.

You could petition the court to change your plea.
Society doesn't have much pity for people who break the law. When you got your license to drive you were awarded a privilege, and were expected to drive responsibly. You endangered the lives of yourself and others and should be punished. I'm willing to bet that you won't do that again any time soon, so even though the punishment seems rather harsh, it'll make you think twice.
Can you even imagine how you would have felt had someone been in the wrong place at the wrong time and got killed because of your fooling around? You could have gotten 15-20 years in jail, and a multi-million civil lawsuit, plus a lifetime of guilt and shame. Consider yourself lucky.

Yes you should of gotten a lawyer. You don't have any option since you pleaded out the charges. If you got a lawyer now they will take your money and try their best and get nothing done.
The sentence was fair. Not because it fit the crime but because if you are this stupid during the drag race and afterwords you deserve all you got. Did you think it wasn't serious enough to get a lawyer when they impounded your car? Are you a dummy or what?

Well first of all, you plea no contest so you can not appeal the findings, you can attempt to appear the sentence but it is likely to cost you more then you are already fined. The part that concerns me is that you feel this is a minor infraction when in fact, you were lucky that you didn't kill someone. Your lack of maturity is a good reason for the fine and hope that you actually learn from this. You say the cop came out of nowhere, so obviously there was other traffic present. For my sake and that of my kids, drive more responsibly

Lol....you got off light. Had you any priors at all, you would be looking at 2 to 5 years hard time....stupid. The reason is simple, innocent people are constantly being killed street racing. You obviously wandered into a neighborhood where this is a problem. Since the case was ambiguous, you got off with a slap on the wrist.

Absolutly fair sentence, In fact, it's pretty light. Most people in my state get jail time for reckless driving. Formal probabtion is where you have to check in with a probabtion officer, just as if you were on parole. Only difference is you never went to jail.
Its fair because what if a kid was riding his bike and you hit him? What if a car pulled out of a parking lot and you hit him?
What if a person was walking and you hit him?
What if you couldn't stop in time?????
You'd have more than probabation then.

your actions did not warrantsuch a reprimand. however, sometimes we fall victim to "the straw that breaks the camels back" or 'i going to make an example out of you."
as far as the "formal probation" it sounds like supervised probation which means you have to report. you may not have to. i highly advised that you call the courts and find out. you want to call them immediately!!!! reason being if you are suppose to report and you dont it is highly possible that you may recieve jail time for violation of probation. now that would really peeve you. SO DO NOT PROCRASTINATE CALL ASAP.

The cops that have been video taped attacking Rodney King have been ACQUITTED. He consequently sued the city of l. a. for violation of his civil rights and gained the regulation experience. The situations surrounding the two incidents are completely different. The Rodney King case grow to be seen an outrage to a lot of human beings because of the fact they observed it as a case of police brutality. The video tape of the cops beating Rodney King grow to be made by way of a white individual. i comprehend a number of cops on a private foundation they felt that there grow to be intense rigidity used. Rodney King had no longer committed a criminal whilst he grow to be being arrested. He grow to be, besides the fact that already standard by way of community police enforcement as a repeat misdemeanor criminal. they could have dealt with the location greater gently. regulation enforcement respected ought to continuously bear in mind that they are managing human beings. human beings could have been the two dissatisfied if that they had witness a matching attack on animal.
