While it varies from state to state, the general rule of thumb is, prove to a judge that the person is responsible enough to be an adult, and have reason. If the judged is persuaded, then violia! You're emancipated. If not, wait a year, then you will be anyway.

you would need to get a court order. there has to be a reason why she would not benefit from being with the family. pretty much, it's a divorce from your family. I have had a friend get emancipated but it was because her mother died and she had to take on the responsibility of being a woman. tell her to find legal information about because she would need to go before a judge for the procedure.

I believe that the person has to be at least 16 years old and able to take care of themselves. They have to go to court and prove this to a judge and the judge will decide if they can be emmancipated.

What is her main concern? Does she (you?) want to claim herself on her taxes, or what? Sounds like she's pretty emancipated right now to me.
