With all the Latino immigrant bashing from Lou Dobbs and others... is that only pissing Latino immigrants off and getting them to get out to vote.
Most Latinos are legal. But legal or illegal, most Latinos DO NOT liked to be lumped as illegal, uneducated, diseased or criminals.

I was told by my father that our family last name was changed from Erickson to Allen because there were too many Ericksons coming over on the boat. This would have been in the late 19th century I believe. This sounded plausable for most of my life until today when an Irish guy I work with casually metioned that Allen was an Irish last name. I had always assumed it to be English. Many people throughout my life had always said my siblings and I looked Irish and I had to correct them and say I was of Sweedish descent. Now I'm questioning. Was somebody snowed along the way somewhere and I really am Irish.
Any help would be great.

Thanks

In Canada, in the point system, it says immigrants need 1)an education 2)Knowledge of English or French and 3) Work experience.
Why is that imortant for an economic immigrant?

Most of the Pro's on here, myself included when I was pro, mention a specific country and the illegals from there. What I've come to understand from the Anti point of view is it's more than just this one country. It encompasses many countries. So I guess my question is ... Do you also support illegal immigration from a terrorist country? Doesn't that scare you for your family that some of those illegally here are or may be terrorists?

Can a US citizen enter Canada as a visitor with the intention of marrying a Canadian, then take the Canadian legally back into the US, and fill out all the forms then?

I think in the US, the foreign national can only enter with the K-1 visa if they intend to marry and stay there.

Alternately if there was no application for a K-1 visa made, upon entering the US, would it would be fraudulent to declare the purpose of your visit a "visit" as opposed to a "wedding" even if I want to return to Canada afterwards?

I have several Canadian friends that married US citizens in Canada and then returned to the US with their new partner, (they are just required to stay in US until their petition is processed) is that shady?

Thanks so much for your help. I think I am getting the hang of how my fiance and I can get married...

He has tried to call the border where he was denied, but they said they couldnt give him the info over the phone about where and when he was suppose to go to the hearing. What should he do?

Hello,

Background info:

My fiance (US citizen, living in US) and I (Canadian Citizen, living in Canada) intend to get married this winter. I am a student in Canada and intend to return to Canada (alone, leave him in the US) after we get married. We are aiming to have the ceremony January 16, 08. I will have to stay in Canada in school at least until May 2008.

here are my questions:

1. Am I allowed to enter the US as a visitor if I intend to marry someone during my visit, if I prove that I intend to return after the planned duration of the visit?

2. If I return to Canada, and my boyfriend (or husband then) files the I 130 and the affidavit of support form (think its I 864?) it is my understanding that I am not allowed to return to the US as a visitor until the petition is approved and I am assigned a immigrant visa number....(according to the wait times...about 6 mos+ after they receive the form) is that correct?

am I on the right track with my thinking here? any advice

I read today that on top of all the Polish immigrants coming into the UK that they are having all their children over here free on the NHS!!!!
How are we going to cope! We are being totally taken over by them!! What a total nightmare scenario.
Are we being swamped? What about our schools, our Health Service, our homes?
It really has gone beyond a joke now hasn't it?

They are 12,000 federal agents patrol the U.S.-Mexican border, along with National Guard troops. Of the 6,000 agents expected to be added to the Border Patrol in the next year, most will be assigned to the southern border and the Minuteman Groups. Along the northern border, which is twice as long, there are fewer than 1,000 agents and no wall.
Even we building a wall thru the southern border and not thru the Northern Border.
Before sept 11, 2001 we didn't have this anti Mexican sentiment?
The Sept 11 were attacked by terrorist from Middle eastern and they were legal on this Country.
Why being so obssesed with Mexicans?

They never report a case. Surely, there must me thousands of cases. Some employers must be in prison and they could interview one. But they never interview those employers and they never report about the easy-to-get phoney papers that you can get anywhere in LA or most any big city. But our police and highway patrols must be making arrests right and left. I want to watch shows about real cases of employers shutdown, fined, arrested and having their land confiscated for hiring illegal Mexicans.

We all want to see Larry King interview the employer who had his property taken for hiring them. Not some black cosmetic surgeon in LA who lost a patient.

Wrong subject. What will it take to get the powerful people like Larry King to talk about the real issues. Not even the PBS news shows address the hottest issue - IMMIGRATION and protected employers who work the illegal Mexicans who make all their money off Mexican sweat and cheating american workers who will not work for the dirt wage

I just saw the movie "Gangs of New York". IT showed the conflict of native Americans (English decent), and the immigrants (Irish).

The English-Americans didn't like the Irish. Their fathers had died fighting in the American revolution. The Irish where not born in America.

And I've seen other movies. When the Irish in New York told the Italians to go back home.

And Then I guess the Blacks migrated to the cities from the South. And they became the "aliens".

Now it's the Mexicans? Why do you Americans keep attacking foreigners and deciding that they don't get to be in America cause your fathers and mothers came before them?

Does anyone know if I need to renounce my Portuguese citizenship if I choose to become a USA citizen next year?

I was not able to find that information anywhere on the USA immigration website.

Thanks in advance.
