the ACLU represents civil liberties. they will stand up for anyone's and everyone's basic rights. they aren't looking out for their own interests--their job is to defend others, especially those who can't defend themselves.

The ACLU is an advocate for minorities, the problem is they side with the minority and not the majority. I have several issues with the ACLU, they are not what they used to be. I found it quite repugnant they represented nambla pro bono, while the head guy at the time( sorry the name escapes me at the moment ) was found to have in his possession, very violent child pornography. This sicko had a huge collection of videos of children under the age of 8 years old being raped, forced into s&m... I have to end it here, I am starting to get upset again. I have no use for the modern day ACLU period!!!

I agree with the user 'the right side' as well.

Almost any enforcement effort that might actually catch some illegals might also infringe on the liberties of citizens. For instance, if we had jackbooted thugs on every corner checking 'papers,' we'd catch a few illegals - but most people wouldn't want to have to carry thier bona-fides with them everywhere they go or risk a beating.

The ACLU, though, takes it a step further, being concerned about the civil liberties of non-citizens, as well.

It's a communist organization in a world where communism is dying. Lawyers go to work for the ACLU because they are covered under the loan forgiveness program and after 4 years they get their loans from Law School paid for and then they can go work for a more leftist organization.

You may want to go and read the book How Satan turned America against God by William Grady. Check out the section on 911 and how the lawsuits harassed the airline industry into not profiling. There in lies your answer. take care. To bad we couldn't do like Israel and the way they scoop people out before a flight, but they are a democracy and their government does not care what fruitcakes say, they act!. Queen trumps the knight

The ACLU has only one reason to exist. To find the wrong side of an issue and back it in court.

The ACLU defends anything that sounds to them like racial or bigoted profiling, a lot of times erroneously. They do not consider the other side of the coin, that illegal aliens are hurting citizens, and that it is criminal activity. It's a one way street for that organization.

ACLU members are mostly disgruntled people who despise the American way of life. Anything they can do to subvert it is fair game to them. Illegal immigration is just their flavor of the month.

They want attention. And to think that some of our tax money goes to fund them....

There are remote situations that they can be beneficial (I'm talking about things outside the immigration arena), but they should never put the rights of non-citizens above citizens (ie Hazleton, PA). Never. If they continue, I hope they lose thier funding.

The seem hell bent on making the news any way they can and on any issue. I think American should be taken from their title. Any issue that they can make noise with and maybe set a precedent with is their cause. What we used to call ambulance chasers!
