You must have noticed that in this once great country we now have a "racism industry" which employs countless otherwise useless people to propagate its propaganda and to perpetuate itself. (There is a similar industry attached to discussion on matters concerning the gay community) These people are employed by the state and/or local authorities with grandiose job titles such as "diversity/multicultural advisers/outreach workers, etc. and spend their time trying to justify their existence and exhorbitant salaries - paid, by the way, by you and me as tax payers. It is, of course, in the government's interest to encourage the creation of such posts(usually advertised only in the Guardian) because the people who fill the posts become employers of the government who will, therefore, vote for them as a way of retaining their cushy jobs. Do you know that since this government came into office in 1997, despite assurances that they would reduce the number of people working for them, they have increased its workforce (civil servants) by almost 700 000.
As you have quite correctly noticed, anyone who tries to debate, even in an unbiased, impartial way, any question to do with immigration is immediately called "a racist." It has happened to me, a long-serving teacher who had taught young people of countless nationalities and a practising member of my church. These people HAVE to do this to justify their jobs, as I said earlier. We are being brainwashed by the fear of being labelled "racist" or "homophobic." When this sort of censorship occured in Germany in the 30s it was called "Natzism."

I know and I truly believe it is wrong to label every anti as a racist...as it is to label every undocumented immigrant Mexican as it is for those antis to only be against Mexicans. You should see many of the answers posted on here. They only bash Mexicans and nobody sees the wrong of it. Has it really become the norm that it is not even considered racist anymore? But I completely get what you understand. As a pro, I try to bring up points other than racism because I understand some antis are truly talking about immigration. There can be ignorance on both sides you know.

Because certain political groups are using the legitimate concerns of ordinary working class people about immigration to push a racist agenda.

In effect such groups are not interested in genuine, rational democratic debate and are contributing to the problem while stopping others from putting forward rational and fair solutions.

I don't feel racist. I know the pro-illegal crowd will hurl the accusation with every other sentence, but it only strengthens my resolve. It is a clear indication that they KNOW they are in the wrong. They grasp at straws as a first line of defense.

The age of the illegal immigrant in the US is coming to an end.

most, if not all, of the blatantly racist stuff on this board is posted by the same one or two 8th grader idiots who create multiple accounts and post trash for some sort of pathetic amusement.

Being a "racist" is is such a horrible thing that people don't want to be called that. When the pro-illegals run out of legitimate arguments, they pull out the race card to shut us up.

Illegal immigration has nothing to do with race since it doesn't matter WHERE they come from. I don't care if the illegal is from England, Canada or India - ILLEGAL is the issue, not race!

BTW, "Mexican" is not a race. The pro-Mexican illegals are sure quick to call everyone a racist when we generally talk about the Mexicans, just because 95% of illegals are from Mexico.

It came from pro ill immigrants wanting to change the subject from illegal immigration, to racism ...so that they would not have to answer some apparently hard questions.

On racism: Sticks and stones can break my bones ...but words will never hurt me. If you believe that then you can forge ahead in your conversations on the subject.
I myself witness that every time one brings up the subject of ill immigration, everyon in the room heads north or south.
Very few people are undecided. The majority do not favor ill immigration but many waffle by saying, well we need to be nice about it. That same group hates hearing the fact of loss, crime, degradation of society etc.
It concerns me that Americans have become a group of "head in the sand" types when tough issues come up and need to be dealt with.

I understand fully with what you are saying.

I think the mere mention of the word immigration is like a red light to a bull or an excuse for some people to give you verbal abuse on here.

Never seen any of your discussions on here but I'm sure you are the sole of discretion when wording either your question or answer. Some folk are all too ready to use the race card at the slightest provocation .

Healthy debate is not allowed on here anymore.

If you go through all of the questions or answers you will see why. I have gotten my question deleted because I ask why do we need to use racist words agains Illegal immigrants. If you dont like Illegal immigration or Illegal Immigrants its ok ,BUT we shouldnt be calling them names. Illegals arent the only ones that commit crimes, so lets not point out that just because they are illegals they are the ONLY ones in the U.S. that do it. Or just because they are Legal Immigrants, and I mention them because Ive seen here so many people agains Immigrants no matter if they are legal or illegal. And most of the racism is towards Mexicans for some reason. I there are a lot of Mexican people here but is that a reason to be calling them beaners or w-e-t- backs? I dont think so. I was born in the U.S. my parents are Mexican and I have been called these racist names too, just for comming from a mexican family or for not having light skin or blue eyes.
So this is when people start saying its racist. And I agree with you, it is right to discuss the pros and cons but its not right to call people names.

It is not in the least racist to want to have an open discussion on immigration.

But when the debate is hijacked by racist parties like the BNP, who claim to want to debate immigration, when all they want to do is to stir up racial hatred, you can understand why there is confusion.

Racists oppose immigration, but not all those who oppose immigration are racist. But some are!

Sparky Says;
The people who try to make you feel like a racist want to make you feel guilty. They want you to feel like you are the one breaking the law. They also forget one really big issue and that is that immigration is not the issue, but ILLEGAL, yes ILLEGAL immigration is the issue. These people that jump a fence or swim a river to sneak into our country are breaking the law, they are criminals. So let them say what they will. To question this ILLEGAL immigration makes you a patriot not a racist.

this is an example of something that happened to me,i was working in a farm, and the owner that hates illegals, when they were not working for him, were fixing a fence, a border patrol agent came and he looked at me then he looked at the owner and not knowing he asked him for his papers because the color of his skin, when the agent left this person was angry because his of Mexican decent but he was born and raised in the us. and stated that if he were white this wouldn't happened and this person had already gone to several wars,it feels different when you're the one being attacked and its not the same he is the type of person who would die for this country and has demonstrated several times, but people still keep profiling.
