Hate is a strong word! I hate no one! But if you were here illegally, then you are breaking the law, no excuses! Breaking the law makes you a criminal and for that you should be deported! We have enough criminals without all the illegals here! I have no problem with the immigrants coming here legally! That's what this country was built on! My ancestors immigrated here from many countries. But they did so legally, and worked hard, prospered and were law abiding citizens.

I don't think I'd hate you if you had status. It's up to INS to either grant your status or not, not me. If they think you're OK to be here, then I'm OK with it, too.

I'm not sure I agree with David's "sovereign" approach. Theory is one thing, practice (and its concomitant ability to enforce a law) is another.

One thing I can't understand is your need to know- Would anyone hate you if you entered illegally and then acquired status? Who needs to know? I doubt you'll go to your neighbors and tell them, "I got here illegally and now I'm legal." Once you're legal, everything's OK. If you're not legal, you probably won't advertise it, so why would I hate you?

I think you should be deported, banned for ten years, then we could see if you were willing to try without breaking our laws.
You are the slap in the face to every law abiding immigrant that has poured thousands of dollars and has waited for years to get into the country legally.

Personally I think it should be a case by case issue. Those who have ONLY crossed ilegally and have not broken ANY other laws or been involved at ANY time with gangs past or present should have some form of VISA allowed. Not citizenship not permanant residence. A VISA. And I hate no one whether legal or illegal.

I can honestly say I don't hate anyone. Please understand people entering the US illegally is a major problem. Most are good, hard working people. Unfortunately many are criminals. Just today it is reported terrorist were smuggled into America with the intent of blowing up one of our military bases.

I don't hate you, I hate your actions. By entering illegally you denied the United States the basic right as a sovereign nation to determine who may enter.

Individually fixing your immigration status is fine and I would accept you. But if the government granted amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens in this country it would never legitimize them in the eyes of the citizens.
