They are 12,000 federal agents patrol the U.S.-Mexican border, along with National Guard troops. Of the 6,000 agents expected to be added to the Border Patrol in the next year, most will be assigned to the southern border and the Minuteman Groups. Along the northern border, which is twice as long, there are fewer than 1,000 agents and no wall.
Even we building a wall thru the southern border and not thru the Northern Border.
Before sept 11, 2001 we didn't have this anti Mexican sentiment?
The Sept 11 were attacked by terrorist from Middle eastern and they were legal on this Country.
Why being so obssesed with Mexicans?

You are correct, most of the terrorists just came over the Canadian border south of Montreal into NY State easily. But they weren't Canadians.

However, If Canadian CITIZENS were sneaking across our Northern border illegally, there would be a wall going up there. I happen to live near Canada. Canadians come, shop- dine out and leave USA. 12 Million Canadians don't cross to have their babies here, paid for by US taxpayers to get on public assistance.

For the obvious reason that there aren't millions of illegal aliens from Canada living in America. It's short-sighted and irresponsible, of course. Securing a border is more pheasible when you /don't/ have hordes of people pouring across it, securing the northern border would actually make some sense, since it could be done. Securing the southern border doesn't have a chance until after sufficient interior enforcement and policy changes have stemmed the tide to some extent.

The 9/11 hijackers, BTW, mostly entered legally, but overstayed visas so were also illegal aliens at the time. Unlike the hordes of Canadians staying north of thier border with America, aliens who overstay visas do make up a non-trivial proportion of illegal aliens, and, again, that's something that can only be addressed by efficient interior enforcement, not mythical 'walls' that never get built.

Even with more patrol on the southern border the illegal flow across the southern border is many orders of magnitude that coming across the northern border.

We are planning to improve our northern border patrol, and sensors etc. However, if you have a severed artery and a severed capillary you deal with the severed artery with greater urgency.

If an uneducated impoverished mexican can sneak across the border so can al qaeda. And judging from the number of mosques being built in mexico that is probably just what they are planning.

I have yet to see Canadians waving their flags screaming for rights.

The terrorists were not legal - they had overstayed their visas - not that terrorists are overly concerned with our immigration laws.

Because Canadians aren't streaming across our borders to get jobs that no one else wants here. They are working on the border crossings, but they do need to do more.
Before 9/11, some of us knew the borders had to be secured, & we were pushing for better policing of the Southern border. They have been getting in for far longer than since 9/11.

Yeah, those rascally Canucks are roaming the streets in gangs , aren't they? Wish they'd quit hanging out around the hockey arena, drinking Molson and blasting their infernal Rush and Anne Murray.

You apparently do not live in the Southwest since we knew of the problem ten-15 years ago but everyone was looking the other way.

Because that is where the vast majority of illegals enter. Duh.

BK is right. Interior enforcement is more critical than anything else.

Michael, have you ever been to Canada? My last trip was in September. Believe me I was thoroughly questioned by Canadian and US border officials. Trained dogs were smelling vehicles for bombs and dope.

Terrorists can enter the US no matter how high the fences we build. Personally, I'd rather the US spend funds on cancer research and treatment than fences. Your chances of dying from cancer are 100,000 times greater than being killed by a terrorist.
