I just saw the movie "Gangs of New York". IT showed the conflict of native Americans (English decent), and the immigrants (Irish).

The English-Americans didn't like the Irish. Their fathers had died fighting in the American revolution. The Irish where not born in America.

And I've seen other movies. When the Irish in New York told the Italians to go back home.

And Then I guess the Blacks migrated to the cities from the South. And they became the "aliens".

Now it's the Mexicans? Why do you Americans keep attacking foreigners and deciding that they don't get to be in America cause your fathers and mothers came before them?

People seem to think that I'm an immigrant living in the US.

I'm not, and I don't want to live in America either.

I have a job, I have it good. 3 bed room apartment. New Toyota et c.

Not many Job's in my country. I understand why people who have no Job want to go to America.

There should be a limit and control placed on how many aliens the US should have. As of now, it's a free-for-all and whoever gets in and isn't caught, can stay.

I would seriously like to know when enough is enough. When do we stop the economic drain on our country's social programs, educational systems and health care?

Do foreigners truly think that England is NOT saturated with immigrants, that Holland isn't running the risk of losing their culture totally? USA is not the next dumping ground for 3rd world nations to use to rid their expanding populations.

On the surface its not a bad question. But this IS a country that is sovereign and free to make choices about who it lets in its borders. You don't just get to come here cuz you wanna. There are rules and you seem to take it for granted that you get to come here because you feel entitled to do so. Those of us born in the US can't just go move into a country of our choice. We have to apply like everyone else to any other country. Everybody in any country came from somewhere else if you go back far enough. The Altomecs/Cactus People were in Mexico way before the Spaniards and those people actually came from the jungle and dominated another more peaceful people and assimilated their culture into their own after killing off most of them. The Roman influence is still obvious in many parts of the world as well as the Mongolian. This is not new or unique to us.
Yes we are a young country with growing pains but that doesn't mean you are free just to come because you think you can. Something drew you to this country. But remember that this is a country and it is called America and it Does belong to those of us that are Citizens. I personally welcome you if you are here to work hard and help this to be a better country. But if you have come to trash it or terrorrize it I take issue with you and would gladly assist you to the airport.

Lack of being here legally is the issue. If they were here legally, we would not have the infrastructure problems the huge influx of Illegals (80% of which are Mexicanos) has caused. This is the reason for the outcry by Americans.

The Gangs of New York movie was concerning Legally admitted immigrants. I suppose one could contend that we love them and we hate em' as far as immigrants are cocnerned.
My sense of it is that the rub that is created here is two fold. The primary one is: competition for opportunities/jobs ...the other is sadly, racism.
Racism really stems out of the competition problem.
Look at most animals that live around you. Dogs, cats any other animal in it's social interactions with it's own kind or even other animals, ALWAYS defends food sources, water sources or even breeding sources. It's an animal like behaviour. Maybe we haven't evolved as much as we would all like to think.

One problem I have with this is that illegal aliens are costing taxpaying citizens, particularly the middle class, an alarming rate. People are upset about the illegal issue because they pay taxes (and we'll assume, are for the most part, law-abiding citizens). When the government does not appear to be representing its citizens, who are footing the bill, then it can be considered taxation without representation and unconstitutional. The illegal immigrant costs the US every man woman and child in this country approximately $8,000.00 per year. This of course, does not account for an aging population of illegal immigrants which will cost our children even more if something is not done about the problem.

While the Mexicans compose the largest group of illegal immigrants, they are certainly not the only problem. (witness Nada Nadim Prouty)

Illegal aliens are not a race and there are many more issues, apart from cost, that US citizens must be concerned with as a result of illegal immigration. There are health concerns --infectious disease and there are national security concerns. Often more nefarious criminals are hiding amongst those who are illegally in this country.

My friend is in the hospital with TB right now. TB is on the rise in this country, and because aliens are not screened before they come into the country and they often don't have health insurance, this poses a health risk to the community at large.

Nada Nadim Prouty, a 37-year-old Lebanese national and resident of Vienna, Va., pleaded guilty today in the Eastern District of Michigan to charges of fraudulently obtaining U.S. citizenship, which she later used to gain employment at the FBI and CIA; accessing a federal computer system to unlawfully query information about her relatives and the terrorist organization Hizballah; and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Finally, let's not forget the native american indians who were here thousands of years before anyone else--or the millions of immigrants who came to this country and decided to contribute by paying taxes and becoming citizens or those who have gone through the legal process.

Also, my personal opinion is that both the rich companies and the poor are robbing the middle class and it is time for the middle class to do something about it.

Our government is supposed to represent the people, meaning the citizens of this country, not the world, and many people want just this.

a) ditto stung4ever

b) Hispanics, muslims, extraterrestrials, anyone, ANYONE, is welcome here, if they do it legally. You wouldnt go to another country intending to live there but purposely break their laws and drain their resouces set up for citizens, would you? The illegals in this instance dont give a crap about the country that is feeding them, they just want to take take take, send it home so they can afford to be smuggled in, and then take some more,w/ a complete disregard for the citizens, burning american flags while waving mexican ones . . . if they have so much pride for their country why are they fleeing it by the millions? Oh yeah. The hand outs.

Way to base your entire opinion on hollywood, you're more american than you think.

Not all Illegals are Mexicans.. but anyways.... the word is ILLEGAL- there are legal ways to live in this country and everyone must go by the rules and regulations set forth.. if they do not, then they need to go back home... couldn't be much simpler than that. The US takes in more immigrants than any other Country.. so I don't think our laws are that harsh, we have so many different programs for people to come here legally

Wow that is what I've always told people. It's a chain.. don't forget the Asians who built the railroads !!!

It is the phenomenon of THE GREAT AMERICAN SCAPEGOAT.. it should have switched after 9/11 but for whatever reason that just made more people hate mexicans more..

The problem is that there are no large groups left to hate.. everyone else has been "jumped" "hazed" "initated" already..

it's about illegal entry to the U.S. and there are all ethnicities that have problems with them being here. mexicans and other latinos. american indians, whites, blacks, asians all think that immigration to this country should be within the realm of the law.

Movies are meant for entertainment. Yes, there are conflicts in our past as in every other nation's past. But the main thing here is if you're illegal, Americans neither want you or like you. Legal immigrants are welcome, no one says we must be best friends with any other American, we obey her laws and unite in crisis. We are citizens of the USA.

Because we have laws against Illegal aliens now...

There is no law nor ever was a law that said we have to "like" a group of people.

It is not that we dislike Mexicans ( although many do ) it is that those mostly breaking the law just happen to be Mexicans.
