I am a professional male with extensive experience in Social Services. It is very difficult and outright impossible for me to become employed in my field because I am not bilingual. For millions of Americans, we live by or with large concerntration of hispanics. The Social Services field provides many services to consumers who do not speak English. Even in Omaha and Des Moines, the need for bilinugalism was overwhelming. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when I applied for a position in Waterloo, Iowa. It was a management position, and I qualified in every way. After completing both pages of the application, the VERY LAST LINE stated that the position required fluency to which I must read, write, and speak Spanish. I was deeply hurt. Waterloo is mostly whites and blacks.
Millions (literally millions) of educated workers are in the same predicament. Secretaries and Office Managers have it worse. I will learn Spanish because I want to have a job.

I am a permanent resident in the US and will be eligible to apply for citizen ship in 2 years. Before, I was told by my lawyer that it is required for US permanent residents to stay in the country for a certain amount of time per year.
I am now interested in transferring to University of British Columbia Vancouver next year and I am wondering if I transfer there on a Student Visa will that effect my Citizen ship in the US?

Recently the state government PASSED legislation that allows state and local law enforcement to enforce existing immigration laws, STOPS all free public services to illegals, and harshly punishes employers tthat hire illegals.

Hey Washington pay attention this is what the american people want. Who would have thought that the U.S. would have to look to Oklahoma to show us the way? How long will it take the rest of the country to follow?

There are sharp differences among legal experts and law enforcement officials about the limited protections in the immigration laws, many of which have been upheld over the years by the Supreme Court. Officials point out that the majority of the people deported last year entered the country illegally or plainly had lost any claim to legal status, including thousands of convicts.

“Immigration law enforcement is all about getting you to where you belong, which is outside the United States,” said Jan C. Ting, a law professor at Temple University who is a former assistant commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the precursor to ICE. He pointed out that immigration laws are civil codes, not criminal. “A lot of constitutional protections that one would normally expect in a criminal case do not necessarily apply,” he said. http://sweetness-light.com/archive/nyt-illegals-dont-have-same-rights-as-citizens

CBS/AP) After 12 hours of meeting and hearing emotional testimony, Prince William County supervisors voted to move forward with their contentious measure to deny services to illegal immigrants. They postponed the matter of how to secure long-term funding for the plan, which includes allowing police to check the residency status of anyone arrested in the county and improve cooperation with federal immigration authorities… As the meeting began, supporters and opponents of the measures scuffled in the street before police separated

The real question is… “Can the border patrol be charged with a crime if the man was backing up (while ramming the agents) toward Mexico?

SAN MANUEL — A suspected immigrant smuggler rammed a stolen pickup truck into a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle early Monday and then ran away.

Neither of the agents involved in the incident suffered serious injuries.

Agents found six illegal immigrants inside the truck. Four hailed from Honduras; one from El Salvador and the other from Guatemala. Local Border Patrol spokesman Oscar Saldaña said agents arrested them and prepared them for deportation.

The ramming occurred about 4:30 a.m. Monday after the agents spotted a Ford F-350 northbound on U.S. Highway 281, and a registration check revealed it had been reported stolen.

After the agents pulled the vehicle over, the driver backed into their sedan, smashing the front bumper and license plate.

The agents avoided any serious injuries by dodging the truck as it hurtled toward their sedan, Saldaña said.

Agents continued to search for the driver Tuesday, but Saldaña said the Border Patrol has not tapped all its resources.

Local sector Chief Ronald D. Vitiello released a statement warning that violence against agents would bring severe punishments.

“Unscrupulous human smugglers who inflict harm onto our Border Patrol Agents will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Vitiello said.

The owner of the Ford F-350 reported it stolen in the Houston suburb of Richmond. Agents seized the vehicle after the ramming incident.

"The Prince William County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday night and passed a resolution to deny some services to illegal immigrants.
The policy is one of the toughest in the country and has already been met with protests, boycotts and a federal lawsuit. Officials had said the decision could impact several other counties around the country.
The board voted to allow police to check the residency status of illegal immigrants if they are suspected of breaking a law. The measure also means that county services such as housing assistance, drug rehab for jail inmates and senior programs would be denied to illegal immigrants. "
