What do you think about the United States immigration policy? Do you think it is fair toward the immigrants?

As someone who has been through the immigration process it is very expensive and very stressful. I believe the system in essence is suitable.

The only valid visa rule I would change is the 'dependent visa', on a dependent visa you are legally in the USA, You are NOT entitled to social benefits, to a SSN, to work, to have a credit card (you haven't got a SSN!) you can not hold anything in your own name (no SSN again!) This changes once you have your green card.

If the main visa holders DIES, your husband or wife, you as the spouse and your children have 90 days to leave the country before you are deported. I personally believe in this circumstance this should not happen, imagine losing your spouse and then face having to move your family, leave your home (which you could own) to move back to your home country, to no home, no job, and maybe no friends and family. All while you are greiving the loss of your spouse.

They also need to be more strict and forceful on deportation guidelines and follow through on it, they can start with New Haven Connecticut for that where they are about 15,000 illegals out of 120,000 residents.

Sure it's fair, but it is senseless and counter-productive. We should end chain immigration and select immigrants who are educated, young, and not from Muslim countries. The problem is that there are tens of millions of people who want to immigrate to the USA every year, but we, quite rightly, don't want to let in that many every year. We really do need to cut back on the number of legal immigrants until we get rid of most of the 20 to 38 million illegal aliens who have invaded our country!

It is way more than fair. The US takes in more immigrants than every other country in the world combined.

We need a moratorium on all immigration. Then in 20 years a return to immigration law prior to 1965.

It's not only fair, it's generous. Illegal aliens can sneak across the border, earn money, use public facilities and services that they pay nothing for, drive on roads that they didn't pay for, and enjoy the protection of the US military that they don't pay for. Then, they send all their money back to their home country!

If you're a legal immigrant...welcome! If you're illegal, FOAD.

We talking about Mexico??? It should be fair for IMMIGRANTS, NOT ILLEGAL ALIENS. It should not favor the people whom are not a resident of the U.S or legal aliens. I hate the fact that these people ***** and moan about our policies then cry and complain when they are in our country about being treated unfairly. Although, I will say that the mexican people are a hard working bunch.

No...it's not fair towards legal immigrants. Instead, it seems to favor illegal aliens and that just isn't fair to those who WANT to follow our laws.

I think you should come to this country legally. Fill out the proper paper work and become a citizen. Why should anyone be handled any different. If you want to come here, do it the right way. Not the illegal way.
