Without the employers that continue to hire them, the illegal immigrants wouldn't be able to make a living by coming up here, so why is all the blame being placed on the immigrants?

I previously posted a question about mexicans coming over here for a better life about 9 hours ago. I can see that I asked it the wrong way, but some people still seemed to have understood. Some other people brought up other points about other countries as well. Others brought up isolated situations where they had bad experiences with illegals from mexico. Although unfortunate, I wouldnt place blame on ALL illegals just because some did wrong. Thats just stereotyping. No one group of people is perfect. As for costing the taxpayers money, true, I know many illegals who leech off the system via welfare, but i know just as many that get screwed over. They work all day, taxes come out of their checks. They do everything a citzen does, but get no insurance benefits, tax refunds, or licenses

So now my question is, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, if you lived in poverty, oppresion, etc; You are the head of a family and theyre suffering. You tried to get in the legal way, but it didnt work. What now?

shows assimilation to be preferable to multiculturalism. People are taking what they want out of it, though.

What do you think?

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/08/05/news/diversity.php

"IT HAS BECOME increasingly popular to speak of racial and ethnic diversity as a civic strength. From multicultural festivals to pronouncements from political leaders, the message is the same: our differences make us stronger.

But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam -- famous for "Bowling Alone," his 2000 book on declining civic engagement -- has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings.

so many asylum seekers illegally claiming British citizenship has the country gone soft allowing these to slip though the net?
why not enforce tougher laws to stop those with criminal records entering the uk or put a limit on the number allowed to enter in a year.

Stop hoping uselessly! No men or women in D.C. can fix the problem regardless of their stand against illegal immigration. We have given them the opporutnity time and time again and have come up empty handed. I do not want another person to say "Oh if you vote for so and so, he or she will fix it."

If so, why has he or she not fixed it up to this point? If it is to be fixed, we the people have to do it. Ron Paul might be a cute little old man, but that is all he is. He cannot fix this system even if half of America voted for him. There is something in Washington called The Senate and The House of Representatives.

The only one who can put them in their place or remove them altogether are you and I. If you really want a change, stop barking up the tree of some little tired politician and become proactive. D.C. and state leaders had their say and more illegals are coming across now than before.

When my mother arrived in North America from Russia, she pressured me (a perfect english speaker) to learn Russian yet she failed to learn English (the main language).

Today, I am still thinking which is more important: for the children (born in the USA with perfect english) to learn their parent's language or for the parents to learn English. Which is more appropriate?

Truth is that the immigrants of today GENERALLY speaking are the worst in United States history.
The women stomp in the streets mooing for benifits with a bull horn, demanding things that their grandparents had to work for.
The immigrants slap the flag of their country in your face while their grandparants really knew what it was like to be an American. They did not forget their heritage but they did not shove it in your face at every turn either.
They only thing they teach their children is not how to speek English - while their grandparents went to night school to learn the language of their new homeland.
They come here and join gangs and start fights and party - while their grandparants kept their noses clean because they knew that you can't better yourself if you are always in trouble with the law.
Nope the immigrants of today are everything that their grandparents detested.

The way some people express about illegal immigrants is very demeaning. I think that to express an opinion people don't need to be mean. That only will show that the person does not have a strong point to defend.

They may not have it as good there financially but they could stay home (in Mexico) without having to be on the run from imigration authorities on top of everything else they are facing.
Life is hard no matter what side of the boarder they are on. Its not America's fault if they can't get their government to do as we have. Gee...do I smell a human rights violation somewhere South of here? Maybe the U.S. can do something! ...If it were important enough? You just never know about things ...like this?

those GOP who still serve the people, not the neocons.

http://www.newsobserver.com/business/story/659745.html

""For decades, we took for granted that everyone agreed with us economists that free trade is good, protectionism is bad. Somewhere along the way, that stopped being the conventional wisdom," said U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab. "And whereas the default vote on a trade bill in Congress used to be a 'yes' vote, the default vote on a trade bill now in Congress is a 'no' vote."

Why? Because lots of people are no longer convinced that a rising tide of trade lifts all boats. And there's evidence to back them up.

Blaming globalization

For three decades, the richest 10 percent of Americans have been growing even richer much faster than everyone else. Over the past five years, real wages for the rest of America's workers have been almost flat. Many blame globalization."

Thoughts?

And yes this has to do with immigration.

In my mind never. While I can empathize and even understand why a person comes here or stays here illegally I can't condone it.While I feel illegal is illegal from a law aspect I also at the same time realize something must be broken to allow this to happen. So that's why I get irritated when I hear enforce the laws on the books. The laws are obviously flawed if all these loop holes exist that allow illegal immigration to continue.Something must change or we're just spitting into the wind with different states doing different things. That's not SOLVING the problem it's avoiding the problem on the National level.Don't you think it's time to confront our issue of immigration head on?And make new better laws that face today's problems of illegal immigration?Would you be open to new laws that served Americans better and ended the desire for others to illegally immigrate?
