those GOP who still serve the people, not the neocons.

""For decades, we took for granted that everyone agreed with us economists that free trade is good, protectionism is bad. Somewhere along the way, that stopped being the conventional wisdom," said U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab. "And whereas the default vote on a trade bill in Congress used to be a 'yes' vote, the default vote on a trade bill now in Congress is a 'no' vote."

Why? Because lots of people are no longer convinced that a rising tide of trade lifts all boats. And there's evidence to back them up.

Blaming globalization

For three decades, the richest 10 percent of Americans have been growing even richer much faster than everyone else. Over the past five years, real wages for the rest of America's workers have been almost flat. Many blame globalization."

Thoughts?

And yes this has to do with immigration.

The question was 'thoughts?'

Or, now that I have more space in 'details':

What do you think? Is this a good development in your opinion, or not?

kNOT a lawyer - independent doesn't mean Democrat. I will vote Republican at least in the primaries, given the current slate of candidates. After that it will depend on who wins the primaries on either side.

I read the whole thing and it looks great.I can understand why the woo hoo! Did one myself.
And yes to answer the question you clearly asked that will have a direct impact on immigration since the trade agreements will affect their nations as well as our own.All nations must take care of their own citizens first or it directly impacts immigration levels in the more prospering nation.A very thought provoking article and question as always from you.

I'm still a Republican, but I haven't really voted for them since Bush became President. I have mainly made protest votes, by voting for third parties, even if I don't believe in their platform. I see the Republican party splintering, since alot of the conservatives express hatred for the Neocons. I have a serious apprehension voting for the Democrats since I saw how much money I pay in taxes. When I compare how much my assistant made, I only take home a couple thousand dollars a year more than she does, but I officially get paid twice as much. I also was forced to work 20 more hours a week, but I quit after confronting my boss over the violation of California labor law. My assistant, probably can get government assistant, or atleast some financial aid for her kid if he went to college. When I have kids, I doubt it would be available for my family. In the healthcare industry , some of us haven't hade a cost of living wage between 5 to 10 years. What I am seeing is that the middleclass is being made into the poor. The worse i've seen with globilization is taht some hospitals are sending X-rays to be read by doctors in India. They still need to be certified, but what I believe is that they have uncertified doctors do the read, and a certified just sign it. It scares me how far this globilization has gone. They even had plans to fly doctors to India for surgery. The union put a stop to that, but Some insurance companies is incouraging patients to have procedures done in Mexico. The insurance companies may check the doctor, but I question how well and if they check the support of these medical facilities, like lab and radiology.

great information. I had no longer heard. thank you for posting it. Bravo to Ron Paul and the brave patriots of Texas. It makes me think of of a You Tube video (i don't have the hyperlink) of a Texan conversing to a rally, asserting "we will end their New worldwide Order suitable here in Texas". He meant it! this might properly be a small step. there is a lot artwork to be completed to defeat the North American union schedule. Texas can not end it without something of the rustic helping. human beings might desire to write to their congressmen and senators opposing the secure practices and Prosperity Partnership, and that's pressing. human beings must additionally place press state representatives to formally oppose the SPP.

The NAFTA was touted as the best thing for our countries by both Democrats and Republicans. I have no idea why.

It staggered the economy with shoddy work done at low income prices, and took away jobs in America.

The Democrats, who claim to be FOR Union Workers should be held accountable for cutting Union wages, and lost jobs due to Mexican and Canadian workforce.

Union members have to pay dues, and a portion of their dues are set aside for Democratic candidates. Union Members have no say about this money which they worked hard to earn and give up.

Well, as a Republican, I prefer to keep my own money and not give more to the government for welfare programs for the poor (as defined by Democrats), and healthcare and education to 12 Million Illegal Mexicans in our country.

I can't seem to find the question in your celebratory paragraph... Nice links though...
I was always against NAFTA and believed those who predicted the negative consequesces.
The coruption and greed that is rampant in Gov't and elsewhere must needs to be addressed before any progress can be made in other areas.
Maybe I'l come back and add more later.

Its about time, I still do not trust a single politician but maybe someone is finally starting to notice their legislative base and the destruction that blindly pushing globalization is doing to it (us).

It sounds good to me. We need trade policies that protect US citizens, not corporations.
