Immigration - August 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Immigration

You read that right - the same "woman" who has disrespected our most basic law (the right to be a defined nation), and tried to use her own son (born AFTER she had illegally immigrated, and KNOWING the possible consequences of future deportation) to earn pity and help bribe the Government into letting her stay - is now petitioning the Mexican government to try making her a "foreign diplomat" to the US.

Let's get real - the illegal cockroach doesn't want anything to do with peace towards the US - she only wants to rub it in our faces that she was able to get back in one more time in at least some capacity.

Why not offer them an ultimatum? They must either provide fuel from algae (Dept of Energy, 1978 to 1996, Aquatic Species Program: Oil from Algae) or stay in the desert.

So we set up housekeeping in the desert, allow no one with a criminal record (other than ONE illegal entry ONLY) and they study and work and work and study till the oil comes in and is cheaper than petroleum. They'd have to supply their own services (schools, medical, etc), prepare to assimilate and pay their way without costing us a cent.

It's a win-win. We NEED cheap, natural oil and algae has it. It also takes in more CO2 than all the trees in the world (see: Wikipedia - Geritol Effect... also, SoFEX).

Algae produces about 200 TIMES more oil than crops like corn and rapeseed (canola) and grows on the cheapest land...the desert. Notice how corn prices have skyrocketed since ethanol became the fad. Imagine "algae tortillas", "algae flakes" or "algae on the cob". Eewwwww!

If they are all deported how long will it take and cost?

Would you call the proper authorities to give tips on suspected illegals or to turn known ones in or call to give fake leads?

How would you find the ones that leave no paper trail or get in trouble with the law?

Will racial profiling help get more illegal’s?

When non-illegal’s have their rights violated can they sue?

Is it possible for the U.S. to have riots or even a civil war if things get out of hand?

Should we allow the people who get deported a second chance to do it legally?

Could we even stop illegals from coming in from the borders, ports, shore, and air?

What will be the future of legal and illegal immigration be?

Why is it so important to you?

Can the punishments have a ripple effects?

Does the U.S. benefit from using illegal immigrants?

Are you willing to negotiate the punishments?

Who would take care of the all the children that illegal’s leave behind for a better life?

Because we are a country of laws can illegals go to trial and get a lawyer if they have the money and claim they are here legally but lost their paper work?

My family is Basque ancestry and moved to Cuba for 2 generations from Spain, due to religious turmoil (I was born in the US though). However, when I tell people I'm Hispanic they usually tell me "sure, right" or "I always thought you were white". BTW, I have brown eyes and hair but people say I don't have Hispanic "facial features" and I have very fair skin!!! Plus I have a Basque last name (Spanish name with French influence) so its not a typical name like Lopez, Guzman etc.

Why do some people refuse to believe that I'm Hispanic? Should I just play along? I guess it has its advantages. I drive like a jackass sometimes and have only been pulled over once and given a warning.

I am so sick of hearing how unfair it is because they got deported and they have family here and they work so hard to make a life here. I have no sympathy for them if they can't do it legally. I have total respect for people who come here and learn the language and make a new life for themselves the right way. that can't be easy. I am sick of paying taxes for people who want handouts!!! Go home! Am I right?

That was the statement their put out to the press after the raid yesterday.I don't believe a bit of it.The company I used to work for had away around the law.On construction sites they shifted the hiring to the foreman the who was suppose to check ID cards and S.S. numbers and have them make copy's of both. The man in the field has no way to verify the documents or not.And as for the copy's, what a laugh! they would go to a 7-11 store and turn the printer real dark. That way the company was off the hook and the foreman took the fall if someone investigated.

"An immigration crackdown netted more than four dozen suburban immigrants convicted of gang offenses, federal officials said today.

In a four-day push called "Operation Community Shield," federal immigration officials and local police arrested 58 immigrants from the North and Northwest suburbs including Mundelein, Round Lake and Waukegan.

All were men and all were Mexican, officials said.

Of those detained, 37 lived here illegally. The remaining 21 had green cards, but earlier convictions qualify them for deportation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said...

In Waukegan, a prayer vigil planned in protest to the arrests will begin tonight and continue through Friday. "

OK, pros, explain this one to me....

For the rest, what do you think?

I've noticed that many users who have taken liberal stances on other issues, are strongly opposed to illegal immigration. I'm curious as to your reasons? Is it because illegal immigration is primarily effecting the American poor in jobs, benefits and crime or do you have another reason?

Here in Mexico, I was watching the news. I saw that Elvira Arellano met with President Felipe Calderon about the state of immigration affairs in the USA.

My question is, why didn't she use this valuable time with a busy man to promote change in Mexico: How can we improve our own country so nobody has to risk death and deportation travelling illegally to another country? How can we create more jobs and provide more education to our future generations? Why don't we prevent people from travelling through the desert to the USA rather than giving them pamphlets on how to make the journey?

Like it or not the US sets the standards for many things around the world. How would the US look like before the International community if they deported 12 million people? Wouldn't our credibility and moral standing decrease. I think other people in the world would feel justified do awful things on grounds that "If the Americans did it why can't we" like deport refugees, curtail human rights and things like that. What do you think?

That would stop Anchor babies cold. If the woman comes in, ready to deliver and can't produce proper papers, two burly INS agents should be sitting in the waiting room. If the baby gets a US Birth Certificate, it comes at the cost of BOTH mother and child having to leave the country as soon as both are stable. The child will have the unpaid hospital bill attached to his records and will have it collected at the border upon his future return to the US after the age of 18. Simple emergencies such as colds (yeah, right!) will still require picking up that phone. Have your card ready and if it doesn't check out, either leave or we call the INS and THEY permit you to be treated. But after that, you'll have to go with them for a discussion about your current address.
