Nope....
We like coffee better than tea and we don't do fish-n-chips rolled up in newspaper.
g-day!

In a very real sense, we wouldn't have even had a Revolution if England's monarch and Prime Minister not been so heavy handed. Even our own Founders that were political leaders of the time really didn't initially want to separate from England entirely. It was only after they had realized that England wasn't going to play fair by us Yankees that the call to revolt was begun.
Would we have been better off? Well, I can't imagine how. In a real sense, it was our Revolution that sparked off the French Revolution (ironic, since it was their monarch that wanted to poke England in the eye). That change sparked an awful lot of changes in Europe. Modern democracy would have faltered at the starting gates most likely. The monarchs of Europe would have continued to play their silly war games over here and we'd probably be a much more relaxed version of 18th century England nowadays, but all of the amazing concepts that the US created for others to follow would have been lost in the wind.
If they'd have been smarter and just treated us with kid gloves instead of the iron fist, we'd probably still be tied to England in much the same way as Canada was. Who can say? We'd have had a pretty bloody future over here, that's for sure. So I would have to say no.

America wouldn't be a country had England retained it as a colony.

You could compare it to other countries that achieved thier independence from the British Empire more recently in history - like Belize or New Zealand, for instance. Belize is even on the same continent.

It would be a much different place that is for sure. No one can know for sure because the course of history would have been entirely different, the many revolutions that took place in the time period may never have taken place so the world would look much different. Of course the revolutions may very well have taken place, but may have been a different kind, for better or worse.

You mean, if England had won the Revolutionary War? Doubtful. It would probably be a Canada clone.

lol oh heck nope, seriously am I a Brit living in the USA and they can not sort it out between them selves so for the Brits to even think that they could have ruled a country this size and diverse even back then would have been a fair stretch of the imagination, as for it happening now NO A CHANCE, and honestly would not want to either.
Mind you they might have had a better sense of humour had we had them for a bit longer. lol lol

No. We would not be the country we are if not for the Rebels of our past. We would not have a democratic society with freedoms of religion and life in general.
