ABSOLUTELY!
Any service such as hospitals, ERs and government agencies to include state and local police should all be required to notify INS/ICE of any illegal aliens in their care/custody.
The law making any child born in the USA a citizen needs to be changed to read
"born in the USA of AT LEAST ONE parent who is a CITIZEN (or at least both parents MUST be legally residing within the USA)" Parentage and their citizenship or residency status MUST be verrified before the child is granted citizenship.
Eliminate the Anchor baby clause or alter it to be more selective as above then there is no problem in that respect.
Once someone comes into a Doctor, Hospital, or other service or gets arested, they are reported to Immigration and turned oer.
For the medical, treat the life threatening parts and bill their home nation. If the home nation does not pay up, the fed. Govt gets an annual tally of unpaid bills of illegal immigrants and any financial aid to that country is reduced from the USA to pay the bills.

I agree and I am not an american I believe if you want to work in a country go through the proper channels I know things are rough in Mexico and other places but tough deal with it yoiu messed up your own country leave ours alone we got enough problems as it is. I mean you have these immigrants coming in have 25 of them living in a one bedroom apartment and working for next to nothing meanwhile putting 25 citizens out of work and on welfare or worse on the streets. I think if you don't have the proper papers and you have a baby then once the baby is healthy deport them without a birth certificate because they have no right to claim citizenship in country where their parents have none. Let them get a birth certificate from their country of origin.
May sound harsh but that is the way I see it by the way I am from Canada and we have a problem here too with too many immigrants I say close the borders put up a big sign "COUNTRY FULL GO HOME"

I would not go as far as the two burly INS agents, but when ever I go to the emergence room or even to my doctors office, I am asked for my paper work and the illegals should do the same. I think the charge should be attempting to defraud, being the illegals have no means or no intention of paying.

I think the feds offered money to hospitals to do this a couple of years back.
It is not a Constitutional right to get medical care. Reagan passed a law in the 80's that everyone has to be treated in the ER. Guess how many hospitals have closed recently - soon there won't be any to go to so this question is almost moot.

I actually thought of that before. This is a great way to balance the practical fact that we cannot afford to continue giving free health care to criminals, with the fact that it is inhumane to turn a sick person away from a hospital simply because of money or other status.
Treat their illness or give them the care they need, then deport them. It will stop them from abusing the system for every little issue like a simple cold, but its still more humane than letting them die on the street due to lack of care. If they really have an emergency they can get the help they need but they will pay a price (deportation)
.

Why not, the hospitals require 10 reams of paperwork to be filled out already, what wrong with on more form for proof of citizenship.
Ken - It has nothing to do with doctor patient confidentiality for two reasons:
1. The doctor is never involved in paperwork or documentation other than the medical diagnosis itself.
2. Non medical information is not covered under confidentiality.

WOW. Now that is a really terrific idea. I am all for it. That certainly would cut the costs to the taxpayer of an illegal's trip to the emergency room for a simple cold. Terrific. Thank you for the suggestion.

How about changing the law providing that you are not a citizen unless you are born here legally? That is the craziest rule that we have. I don't think that putting health care workers in the middle of this mess any more than necessary is the right answer. You would destroy patient-doctor privilege and those looking to take away our rights would just cite that as an example for the next intrusion into the privilege.

Yes. I just talked to two friends, who ironically, their SS#'s were used at different hospitals when they each went in to get treated. One was left with $3500.00 dollar service bill still being owed. While the other $1500.00 dollars in service fees. Should stop that id theft stuff too.

I fear that if it was an emergency the man, woman, or child would not make it before INS every gave the hospital a live person to talk to let alone an answer. That seems a bit harsh, but I appreciate your point of view. Some things aren't quite fair, but are you so upset with the fact of people illegally being here that you would jeopordize the life of an infant baby? Just curious, I'm not here to judge.
