Diversity is not all it's cracked up to be. I've read many studies that say, too much diversity has an adverse effect. Creating less trust between different ethnicities. It's human nature for us to stick to people that are similar to us. Whether that be color, nationality, religion or culture. What ever is very important in an individuals life will likely dictate what trait they tend to surround themselves with. Why do you think you see huge areas of a city that is mostly: Asian, black, Mexican or Muslim? Human nature, and when people feel alienated, untrusting of other races/cultures or uncomfortable, that's when hateful feelings towards those people begin to develop.

I don't think so. There was just a study out that showed the more racially diverse a community is the less people volunteer, go outdoors, take public transportation, or take pride in their community. I think that the "diversity is strength" slogan belongs in the book 1984 and not in the real world.

Look at France. Do you think its helped them to bring in millions of muslims and jews that are constantly fighting? Do you think its helped the areas in California where whites fled due to the violence between hispanics and blacks?

I think that diversity of opinion, skills, interests, etc is good for a community. Racial diversity brings nothing but problems. Almost all the champions of ethnic diversity live in an area witihout any ethnic diversity.

Truly being diverse is good but that doesn't happen much. Usually there is segmented neighborhoods that belong to difference ethnicities, etc with a small amount of diversity going on in some parts.

It is good as long as everyone gets along, and I think it is important not to have many little totally separate pockets of groups. If it is too much separation, diversity can just mean division and more conflict. You don't want problems and division like for example the Balkan area. In one country it is important to keep a main common language and some shared ideals. This can be done at the same time as keeping the other culture alive. One does not have to be at the expense of the other.

How much diversity are you speaking about? If one ethnic group is say 63% and the rest is split up into single digit numbers is that diverse?

An odd thing is happening in the O.C. in California. One town has become heavily Viet Namese and also Cambodian and Laotian. This community is quite hostile to Mexican immigrants.

Is this not ironic? I believe that a large percentage of these who are opposed are here as a result of illegally leaving their home country going to another. Eventually being justtified by US politicies of refuge.

If they all adopt the new communities values as their own, yes. If they enter into the community with the intention of extorting it rather than contributing to it, this kills the community.

Just because someone takes up residence near another group of people does not mean they are part of the community. I do not consider illegal aliens to be part of my community since they are not here to improve the quality of life or contribute to the community's well being, etc. I see them as a cancer, in that even though they are connected and part of the body, if you leave them there too long, they kill the body. The only way for the body to survive and thrive is to remove the cancer.

According to recent studies, it makes people more distrustful, even of those of their own ethnicity, when there is too much diversity, but SOME diversity pushes the envelope of business innovation.

As an individual I feel safe among people of my same race, religion, and ethnic group. This group protects each other, gives support in time of need, and provides stable traditions. If the whole world was this group, there would probable be no wars.

Like ornaments on a tree? Yes. But a 90-foot pile of tensile on a 5-foot tree is a little silly. Especially if it's all one color and speaks only one foreign language. That really isn't diversity, now is it?

Oh and by the way, is that tensile hanging here legally?
