Why are there so many people in this forum demanding that the Mexicans go home and fix their own government when we can't even do that here at home? What makes you think that it would be so much easier for them to do that than it is for us? Do we believe that Mexicans who come here from below-poverty level standards have more of an influence of their government officials than those of us in the middle-to-upper class category do on our officials here in the USA?

If you feel this way towards Mexicans please provide some suggestions that you think would work for Mexicans to try to fix their governement. They've already tried voting in a new party when they put Fox in office. The party before Fox had been in office for 70 years. So obviously the voting for different leaders hasn't worked.

UPDATE: Woman dies after van carrying immigrants rolled over

Web Posted: 10/26/2006 05:44 PM CDT

By Mariano Castillo
Express-News Border Bureau

LAREDO – One woman died and about 20 others were injured Wednesday night when a passenger van stuffed with as many as 50 undocumented immigrants rolled over on a Zapata County road.
The Department of Public Safety and Zapata County Sheriff’s office this morning continued to piece together details of the incident, which happened at 6 p.m.

"I have not seen anything like that in my 30-year career," Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez said.

The van was speeding along FM 2687, about 12 miles easy of U.S. 83, when a tire apparently blew out, causing the van to roll over, Gonzalez said.

Several of the injured told deputies that as many as 50 people were stuffed inside the van, Gonzalez said.

One unidentified woman was killed, and about 20 were rushed to hospitals in Laredo, Rio Grande City and McAllen.

The event triggered an emergency contingency plan in Laredo called "Operation Rio," where hospitals called in all available resources for mass triage, Laredo Fire Department spokesman Eloy Vega said.

Most of the passengers were ejected from the van, causing head injuries, chest injuries and fractures, Vega said.

The Border Patrol helped transport the injured and used a helicopter to find survivors who fled, spokeswoman Sara Melendez said.

DPS officials said details would be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

No arrests had been made as of this morning, but authorities were looking at a suspect linked with the smuggling operation who was not at the scene, Gonzalez said.

( sorry i have to abbreviate to fit all the question there )

i know for a fact that American children are probably the ones with more resources in the world when it comes to education . i also know for a fact that many kids from countries which receive little to nothing from their governments are doing a lot better than those American kids . i am not blaming the kids but i believe that we as a society are failing to first educate them right and that second we are leaving their education on the hands of computers . maybe if we put the resources in the right places we wouldn't even need a computer in the first place , maybe if we made ourselves responsible for their education we wouldn't be looking for excuses .

I want her to get one legally, it is not that difficult at all if she can prove she will only be visiting (which she can). I do not know how she plans to get here without one but what happens if she gets caught either on her way back to her home country or in the states?

Isn't it federal law signed by BUSH in the 'no child left behind'? This includes both legals and illegals. So, to blame illegals for going to our schools is placing blame on the wrong people. Shouldn't you be looking at and bashing BUSH and not the illegals with regard to education? Aren't illegals simply taking advantage of what Bush signed into law?

I mean some people can't tell the difference between a permanent resident and a citizen! And by the way no one is given citizenship as soon as they are granted the right to stay here! Citizenship is an optional thing if you desire it! You can live here legally the rest of your life and not be a citizen! If you choose , you have to earn it between 3-5 years by having a clean record and having X amount of time living on US soil!

My grandfather came here from Italy at 12 and I know the stories of his hardships. I do understand and sympathize. The bottom line, the world is not the same, America, not the same, enemies, not the same. This countries economy is changing and not for the better. Social Security won't exist in 2047. Medicaid by 2014 and this is all based on figures without calculating in the massive and ever growing number of illegals aliens from all over the world. At this rate, social security, medicaid as well as most other services will cease to exist for not only illegal aliens. It will cease to exist for you, your children and every Americans citizen who has worked and paid into the government all their lives to have these services when they are sick, disabled or elderly. Illegal Aliens are unwittingly for the most part and in some cases intentional parasitic terrorist, that if left unchecked, will destroy Amercia as we now know it. This life boat is taking on water folks. "Any suggestions"?

Question: What's up with this anti latino feeling?

Question Details: I'm sorry about those of my group who are unfortunately unable to articulate themselves. I have no hatred for you, only illegals. Most illegals, however, come from Latin America, so we tend to make generalizations. I think some people hate all Latinos and Latinas because those of Hispanic origin tend to sympathize with the illegals. With an unemployment rate of less than 5% and an escalated enforcement in border security. American farms are losing their crops due to the lack of workers to do the harvesting. Should Americans continue to be cynical about this problem?

I have a friend who has been in this country for 14 years and has put in a valid application for leave to remain in the UK. Does anyone know the length of time it takes to actually be granted? On the Home Office Website it says 70 working days but is there a maximum time limit or do they just please themselves?!

Do you think that America should capture the illegals, and only punish the ones that have been doing drugs and killing people and other malicous doings?
Note: not all the illegals are killers or drug dealers or anything bad like that, only some of them.

Alright, I hope someone can help me. I'm asking this question for a friend. She's german and is engaged to an american. They're about to get married and they both want to live here in the US. Does anybody know if it's easier to get married in germany and come back to the US to do the immigration stuff or is it easier and faster to do it all here?
I'm german too and got married here in the US and it took me less than half a year to get my green card. But I have no idea how it works if they'd marry in germany and then come back. Her concern is about work. She wants to work asap and can't until she has her work permit.
I hope someone can give me/her some useful advice. (Hopefully someone with experience about it)
Thanx

Do you get nervous when you see a American on an airplane? Have your opinions about Americans changed since our marches? Do you have family or friends that get nervous around Americans? Mexico seeks families who have our traditional Mexican family values but are uneasy around Americans.
Mexico will also explore other issues that Mexicans families from varied backgrounds face in their day-to-day life and provide opportunities to them that they might not have access to otherwise.....Viva Mexico
