Isn't it federal law signed by BUSH in the 'no child left behind'? This includes both legals and illegals. So, to blame illegals for going to our schools is placing blame on the wrong people. Shouldn't you be looking at and bashing BUSH and not the illegals with regard to education? Aren't illegals simply taking advantage of what Bush signed into law?

I personally don't blame illegals for any of the social and economic benefits we are stupid enough to pass out to anyone who asks for them.

What is really amazing is how people complain about the millions of tax dollars spent because of illegal aliens but noone says a word about spending 2.8 billion dollars that was spent on a nasa project to catch some comet dust. Or the 1.6 million dollars that is spent to piggyback the shuttle back to florida when it lands. or the what is it 10 billion or million to repair the hubble telescope. Wouldnt it be cheaper just to send a new one up there that wont have to be repaired every couple of years. I know that comet dust isnt going to go out in the fields and pick the crops that are rotting now because there is noone to pick like the oranges in florida. Now back to the schools . What pays for the cost of the schools? Property taxes partly. To go to a school you have to live in that school district. IF you live in that school district it means that you are paying rent or you own your own home and pay property taxes and the owners of the homes that are being rented pay property taxes which they get from the rent of the property. That means that any child attending a school legal or not is not going to the school for free since the parents are obviously paying rent which pays the property tax which goes to the schools. The federal government gives each of the schools so much money for each student that attends each school. Thats why the schools make such a big deal when a child has an unexcused absence because the school looses money. In other words if those children who are ilegal which really not that many are illegal , maybe thier parents but not the children anyway if those children were not attending the school the school would be loosing out on money and less programs would be available for all the children. It works just like the jails work when it comes to money. The state charges the federal gov. for the care of each inmate 30,000 a year when it only costs maybe 10,000 if that . It is a business just like the schools. In california the lottery was supposed to be paying out like 40 % to the schools and that is in the millions and yet the schools say they are hurting for money. Someone isnt telling the truth about something are they. I wonder what everyone is going to blame all the problems on once there are no more illegals around and things are still screwed up. I really want to know what everyone thinks that they are going to do next year when there isnt anyone to pick the crops and tomatoes cost 10 dlls a pound. and lettuce costs about 3 dlls a head. Right now produce gets imported cheaply but once the other countries see that there is a great need since there isnt any you think that they wont jack the price up. The whole problem would be solved if they started using the work camps again where the men and women would stay and a bus would take them to the job each day and then return them at night. They were allowed out on certain days to shop but had to return. On the weekends if they choose they could be taken to the border to spend time with family those who had families near the border. Once they had finished out thier contract for work they would then return to mexico or where ever. They didnt bring thier children with them and those who became pregnant once unable to work would have to return to thier country. Each of the camps had a nurse on call which prevented any emergency room costs. These camps were back in the 70's and I dont ever recall a problem back then. The fields got picked and there wasnt such a need for a big fence at the border and very few border patrol employees. It makes me wonder why they stopped this program. People on welfare dont pay taxes and thier children go to school and get free medical and free food. Illegals cant get welfare so it must mean that they are working right.

No child left behind was not intendedl for illegals, I know all about the no child left behind rule and believe a lot of children are left behind, mainly emotional and physically handicapped ones. Its not that people are mad that a childl is going to school, i work with kids in a school, and love to see a childs face when they learn something knew, now here where you are gonna get pissed, its because they are illegals, most feel that because they are paying for the school tax they should not have to pay for illegals, which for all illegals, even if you say they do pay taxes, its not the school tax. School taxes are taken out of the paycheck, most illegals dont have one, now it doesnt go to say that illegals would not pay, its just they dont risk the chance of getting caught, and yes, a lot of them just want to be legal and given that oppurtinity to become a citizen and do all the legal things like everyone else, its just to most legals they feel they should have to go home and wait in line, then come over, thats what I think, but I feel every child has a right to an education, its not a children thing at all.. at least I hope not.

Nobody to Pick Crops? What About Illegal Aliens Already Here?
How about blaming the growers for hiring illegal aliens to begin with, in violation of U.S. laws? Or how about blaming growers for not offering competitive wages to attract American workers that are here legally?

Reports indicate that the “shortfall” of agricultural workers is also the result of illegal aliens working in construction and other U.S. industries.

In other words, illegal aliens already here are no longer willing to pick produce and fruit. So America needs to let in another 20 million illegal aliens?

To me it's simple.. Be a citizen.. Get a social security number.. and of course pay your taxes. Then one is eligible for the public offerings this country has. It's just like a bank account.. take more out than you put in.. you are broke. I don't blame anyone for wanting to come here.. put their kids in our schools. But is it not true that illegals (no matter what country they are from) work under the table?

"Aren't illegals simply taking advantage" !!!!! I think you get the best answer for your question. Did Bush or the federal government take your vote or mine when they decided it was OK to use $ 30 PLUS BILLION DOLLARS of OUR taxpayers money to provide free schooling and other social services. "NO". So, with that said, just because a mentally challenged person walks up to you and gives you $ 30 Billion dollars, does it make it right for you to take advantage of him. Of course not. They are economic terrorist and they are stealing our future and our children's future.

Has nothing to do with Bush. The illegals have been attending our schools for years. No one blames you for attending. They blame you for being here (illegaly)period.

I'm for anti-illegal immigration and I'm not sure you're off base with your reasoning. However, while Dar's answer also makes sense, why should the children suffer? Tomorrow is election day, Vote! Be heard! Get the right politicos in there to finally do something about this horrendous albatross!

I disagree. They shouldn't be here. One big reason they come is for better education for their children. That is better because we pay for it. They overcrowd our schools and degrade the education our own children get, both by using funds we pay for our own children and due to the language barrier which slows instruction.

I absolutely can and do blame them for every taxpayer subsidized service they use at our expense, since they came with no right to be here. This is the biggest sore point with me since it isn't just my fractional share out of pocket that it costs, it is costing my children the quality education they are entitled to, which I received when I went through the same school system they are going through now.

I am certainly furious with our government for allowing this to happen. However, that police don't sufficiently prosecute does not excuse the thief. They know they broke the law.

Where is the compassion for OUR children?

I never blamed the children, I'm blaming the cowards that hide behind the children.
