What's a long time for you? A month? A year? 2 years?
Is your sister married?

I will suggest you check this website out.

Hello Tisha, it's nice to talk to a fellow Trini! The thing is, it all depends from where you guys petitioned from! Some major cities can take a long time, while others can take not so long! Your mom can sponsor her as long as she(your sister) is not married! Any lawful permanent resident or citizen can sponsor an immediate family relative! USBCIS don't really hassle Trinidadians! I got my residence without anyone's help! I just read the papers, filled them out , and payed the fees! It only took me two years! So don't worry, it will happen for her! Remember patience is a virtue!

If your mom has already filed a petition for her, she has to wait until her priority date becomes current (usually the date when petition has been filed w/ the USCIS).

this is link shows the priority dates currently being processed:

hope this helps.

it may or may not... depends on her situation.... is she already here legally? then not really, is she married? then yes, does she have something good to offer the country, then no.... depends on where you apply... Fl will take longer than say Va etc....it's relative really, but it can take 1-3 years....but your mom needs to sponsor her....
