Do you realize that there are several hundred miles that will still have no fence after this proposed section goes up? There was already a 14 mile fence built in San Diego, and the estimated cost of $3 million ended up costing more than double. And it only reduced the immigration in that section. Now the immigrants have moved over to the AZ and TX borders. I don't think this fence is worth the money as the Mexican government encourages its citizens to come to America and these people will come here no matter what it takes. The US gov't should use their money to help support the soldiers in the means of salaries and death benefits--not spending millions to set up an infrastructure of another country.

We can not afford to spend 2 billion dollars a week on the continuing occupation of Iraq. We are caught there in a sectarian war in which both Sunni and Shia wish to kill us. I would assume the reason you wish to spend 5 billion dollars (as a start) on a fence is an attempt to stem the flow of illegal immigrants across it. This will not work. If we only enforced current law regarding illegal employers and punished those employers with serious prison time and fines, these folks just would not come here. The only reason they are here is to make a little money. They cannot do so in their own countries because of the nature of their corrupt Governments. If we got serious with illegal employers, they would simply go home. They are not here for our great climate and friendly culture. I would also suggest that we train and arm them on their way home so they can finish the revolution they started in 1910.
I say let us send a new Liberation Army of the South, with ten million homeward bound, armed, angry, Patriotas. Viva Zapata ! Viva Mexico !

yeah right think about it why the government doesn't want to build a fence because if they build a fence that will mean that there will not be any more need for "ICE" any more and there will be layovers because of a fence.. and plus immigrants are the once who are piking up the fruit that u eat everyday, sowing the cloths that u wear getting paid literally less than 200 a week. and even dough they do all that u still write about building a fence. OK then may be u should consider finding American people to do the job that Mexicans or better yet immigrants do!!!!!!!!!

We don't even need 5 billion dollars from any other source. All we have to do is cut the funding that we for some reason give to the illegals. Just welfare would pay for it almost 3 times over.

they don't save for school or to purchase a house. imagine of that wedding ceremony as your college fund and the down price on your abode mixed. also, keep in mind the "observational bias". The gypsies with the most absurd, tacky, over-the-good weddings are the most interesting to mock, so as that they get featured contained in the teach. there might want to be many who can't arise with the money for a wedding ceremony like that.

I wish we had spent the 400 billion on cleaning up the gang problem in this country; solving the illegal immigration problem in this country; improving the education quality in this country.

There's a LOT of places that money would be MUCH better spent than fighting a war just to get oil!

Like it could be put BACK where it came from in the first place like Social Security and all the other programs RAPED for their dollar$.

Yes - you would think we could afford to put people to work from this country to secure OUR borders from being overrun by and flooding our benefits system which wasn't made for or designed for this.... Hmmm it's all about the oil....
