theres too many people waiting in line for healtcare and the gov't starts to ration it out?

if you are old, you probably wont be put too high up on the list. especially if you are retired, you are not bringing anything into the society so why would the gov't help you live longer?

would people with terminal illnesses be given treatment at all?

if you are not a young, fit person with many more years to live and contribute, you will not be given healthcare right away, if at all. it might sound okay now, but what about in 20-30 years when you are old and need help and medicine and the gov't says, no, we're going to give all the healthcare we would give to you to someone else who is younger and can contribute more to society. would you feel you made the wrong decision when your gov't tells you you mean nothing to them any longer?

In November 2006, the Vino Wine Company placed the following advertisement in the Sunday Clarion and the Sunday Post newspapers:

'Special Offer - 6 'Vino' wine glasses - absolutely free - simply buy three bottles from our Matador Rose range of wines, send the corks, together with proof of purchase, to the address below and we will send you six 'Vino' wines glasses absolutely free. Offer closes 31 December 2006.'

Peter saw the advertisement in the Sunday Clarion and, although he usually drinks a cheaper brand of wine, decided to purchase three bottles of Matador Rose in order to send for the glasses. On 1 December he purchased the three bottles, but decided to keep them to drink at Christmas.

By 15 December, Vino Wine Company had been inundated with replies to the advertisement and decided to withdraw the offer. They placed the following advertisement in the Sunday Post newspaper:

'Due to greater than anticipated demand, Vino Wine Company regret they must withdraw their offer of free 'Vino' wine glasses with immediate effect.'

Peter did not see the second advertisement. On 29 December he had only drunk two of the three bottles and so decided to drink the third bottle by himself. The following day he was suffering from a hangover and so did not post the corks and receipt until 31 December. Due to a backlog of mail, the letter did not reach the wine company until 2 January 2007.

Jane is a regular drinker of Matador Wine. On 20 December, while waiting in the doctor's surgery, she was glancing at an old copy of the Sunday Post newspaper when she saw the offer of free 'Vino' wine glasses. When she returned home she collected the corks from the three bottles she had drunk the previous week, found the receipts for the bottles in her purse and posted them to the Vino Wine Company on 21 December. The Company received the letter the following day.

Advise Peter and Jane, neither of whom has received their 'Vino' wine glasses.

In the catagory of duh.....and no sh*t departments, is the fact that it is being reported that the majority of al Qaeda are no longer in Iraq. Well when they are in Pakistan where the US cannot go because Pakistan is an ally to the US and the Pakistanian government harbors these folks there really isnt a need for them to be elsewhere. Although you will never really hear any in the media come out directly and accuse Pakistan of this.

your thoughts?

I am studying engineering at Embry Riddle Daytona, with the intent on becoming an Aviator in the USN. I want to join the ROTC program to give me some exposure to the service whilst I am completing my studies.

I am confused by the citizenship component. I am not applying for an ROTC scholarship, just the training and experience. I have a greencard, my parents are american, I was born and raised in australia. I will be a citizen next year so the scholarships and commision will have to wait.

Exactly how far can I go with ROTC using my GC? I heard of people participating under their student visas also, whats the deal? Surely you must at least have a GC...

Often times, if a question like this is asked...like "In what future year do you think american cars will be mostly independent of fossil fuel"

that some people will invariably answer with the "as soon as it is profitable for car makers to produce such cars" response.

Which at some level makes sense. But there is an aspect to that answer that is bothersome in the sense that it implies that all that is right and moral makes economic sense....and that the dollar is our soul.
Do you agree with those people?

I'm currently a 4th year medical student in Poland and I have a 1-year polish non-schengen visa ending on January 3rd 2008. I will complete my studies and get my degree on March 15th 2008. But I must leave the country on January 3rd. And since the Schengen has expanded I can't just go to Germany and get the free '90 day tourism' stamp. What are my options? Can I go to the UK and come right back? Do I need to go to the US and wait 180 days? I have not traveled to Germany in over 8 months so i'm not sure the 180 day rule applies to me. Maybe I should just keep a low profile for 2 more and take my chances. Also, i am an american citizen. I appreciate any insight.

I have recently been served with a subpoena to testify in court. I am going to be absent from work for two days. Am I supposed to be getting paid from my employer during this time? I talked with my boss and he says that the company I work for doesn't pay for that and he also said that they don't pay for jury duty. I have always been under the impression that employees were supposed to get paid for these things. If anyone can help I would appreciate it greatly and if there are any laws and regulations regarding this matter I would like to have a URL to them so I can print them off. Thanks.
