As the congratulations and recriminations are offered, proffered and levied at one another over just who is the most global warming minded member of your party, remember the people of southern Sudan; northern Uganda and Burma.

Ask yourself which is the more pressing and immediate concern:
actual human suffering or the UN and Gore's new found piety.

Merry Christmas

My mother passed away in 2002. Leaving behind some property she owned in Florida. We have kept the taxes current on it. (it is a vacant lot). Do I have to hire a lawyer to transfer this to my name? She left a will and everything left to me. So there will be no contesting of that. Just hate the cost of hiring a lawyer to do something that I'm sure I'm capable of doing.

As we approach the supposedly-'first death anniversary' of Saddam Hussein (of Iraq), I question everyone when they mention that he is dead!

No; he is definitely not! It all went like this:

When the Allied forces, led by George Bush's USA, invaded and entered Baghdad, Saddam Hussein was waiting for them in his palace. Later, when he was, how shall I put it, 'captured', days later he was whisked away to Russia, to the Black Sea port of Odessa. Russia was paid 10$m-100$m to look after him henceforth.

All this was done by George Bush, the current president of the USA.

Can anyone challenge this statement?

Which would you rather have?
1 1,070,377 Affordable Housing Units or keeping the Shiites in power in Iraq?
2. 39,240,332 People with Health Care or keeping the Shiites in power in Iraq until the Sunni army that we are organizing and arming overthrows them about three days after we leave.
3. 22,714,282 Scholarships for University Students Or revealing the fact that Bush’s “mission accomplished” only applied to boost the value of Cheney’s stock options.
4. 58,681,896 Children with Health Care Or winning the truly desperate battle against creeping socialism.
5. 2,068,007 Port Container Inspectors or making sure that the Shiites or the Sunni armies don’t attack Albuquerque the first chance they get. .

Government ideas are mooted for banning prostitution. I'd like to know people's views. I have just four comments :

1. I doubt if the trade/ activity can be banned effectively. It's not the sort of thing you can stop completely. Better to regulate what you can't prevent ?

2. Nobody would condone the sex-slavery and human trafficking that often goes along with prostitution. But prostitution doesn't necessarily mean these things.

3. My guess would be that buying sex is rubbish in comparison with having sexual relations with someone you care about and are engaged with.

4. But isn't prostitution - or can't it be - just another application of the market - a voluntary transaction on fair terms ? Or are there reasons why it is never voluntary and always & inherently exploitative of women ?

Harriet Harman, who's mainly behind the mooted legislation, is a warm heart and a champion of women. But is she right on this one ? If prostitution ended, fine : yet to illegalise ?

Some people are opposed to XMAS versus Christmas. I think it is the thought that counts!! Don't you? Merry Christmas (XMAS) to all that see this! The multiservice GI's serving all over the world...this is for you!! AIR FORCE RULES..with cooperation of Army, Navy, Marines and the beloved Coast Guard. I have not forgotted the cadets in our military academies and those junior multiservice ROTC members who will someday step into the shoes of the current leadership! God Bless You All!!

I read on a site that made really interesting points about this question.

"Logically speaking, it should be the other way around. Alcohol tends to make many people aggressive, leading to a variety of violent crimes, while marijuana does not. Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant, and leads to a serious loss of
coordination and motor skills. At larger doses, alcohol renders one completely unconscious. Drunk drivers cause enormous numbers of automobile accidents and deaths. Marijuana is not a central nervous system depressant, and while one probably shouldn't drive while intoxicated on anything, it simply does not cause anywhere near the loss of motor control that alcohol does, and is only a fraction as dangerous as alcohol in terms of driving. And, a large enough dose of alcohol can and will kill you, while the same is not true of marijuana."

Your thoughts?

The 2nd amendment to the United States constitution guarantees me protection agaist the infringment of my right to keep and bear arms.....This is such clear language that it seems as though only someone who is crooked and has an agenda could twist it out of context for political reasons.....

For those of you who don't know, California is the only state in the US that is allowed to enact air pollution laws that are more stringent than federal standards. The Clean Air Act, however, requires California to get a waiver from the EPA before enacting such regulations.

California has obtained several such waivers over the last 30 years. Last week was the first time such a waiver was denied. California was trying to regulate carbon pollution. Actually, the EPA ignored the petition until California sued and a federal judge ordered the EPA to evaluate it. California has threatened to sue again over the denial.

I am interested in hearing what people think of this issue. Please note that I am NOT interested in your opinions on global warming or Kyoto Protocol or any of that stuff, only on the federalism issues.

I recently answered a question - on a subject I know quite a lot about - by telling the poster that no-one could sensibly answer her question without more facts. She responed by sending me a nasty email - to which I couldn't reply since she's blocked emails. Why are so many people online such cowards that they feel free to make ad hominem attacks on people who're trying to help, and then hide behind Yahoos mail blocks ?

I keep hearing about these thousands and thousands of Canadian’s that flock to US hospitals to get medical care. As foreigners they have no health insurance here and it costs many thousands of dollars a day to stay in an American hospital, here do they get all that money? Do they get a group rate at the border, or is this just more crap put out by the RNC? Finally as they have ne applicable insurance what financial security do they have to post before the hospital will admit them? Do they promise to leave a healthy kidney?

If someone was attacking me and I was just able to dial 911 -- call connected but I couldn't give the location/address, would they come? I am assuming they can trace my location, especially if it's dialled from the mobile phone, but would they trace the call and check?

Thanks.
