Nobody wants to be a racist anymore. So its no surprise that many that were racist or belonged to historically biased organizations are either cleaning up their act or in many more cases, cleaning up their historical record. In this case, it is the republicans that are guilty. The civil rights movement was strongly opposed by the right and any attempt to revision these facts are laughable.

There's much to read here so I'll spare everyone the copy/paste and simply post a link for those interested in reading a rebuttal to the site you posted as support for a "King was a conservative" theory. Historical facts easily prove he was not.

Well, Republicans are all for helping impoverished minorities get good education and good jobs so that they can be productive members of society. Democrats on the other hand prefer to play the role of the goose that lays the golden egg. They know that as long as poor minorities are dependent on them for welfare and other government programs these minorities will continue to vote for them. You tell me what you think is more compassionate, someone who is willing to help you get a meaningful job so you can care for yourself or someone who makes you eat out of the palm of their hand.

Republicans, because we believe that everybody, black or white, has a brain. Democrats, on the other hand, are so certain that minorities do not, that they support affirmative action.

Democrats. Republicans are firm in their beliefs Democrats on the other hand tend to sway with what the crowd wants. Both admirable but both flawed.

I am confused as to the word "tolerant." It implies weakness, why should minorities be merely "tolerated?" I think the question is, who shows more respect towards minorities.

I think very little of MLK
Have you heard the FBI tapes of him in the hotel with the prostitute? "I am not black tonight" spanking the white prostitute... preacher no less.....

or that he copied his doctoral dissertation from another book... word for word.... to be found out 10 years later...

I am shocked how people can be brainwashed to support the people who do them the most harm...

usually their own judgments and hatreds are used against them....

Now if that web page doesn't just scream hypocrisy!

Championing civil rights but..... waving the good old confederate flag around down south. Like I always like to say.

Cons whore up Lincoln in the north, whistling Dixie in the south.

Those were the good times for Rep's!

Don't forget that years back, the Rep's party took a wrong turn and kept getting worse!

It really depends on what you mean by tolerant. Reps encourage minorities to stand up and take their place in society. Dems want to give them handouts. Dems like throwing money at minorities to keep them from realizing that they are just like whites and all humans. With focus, will, and determination, nothing can stop us. Reps offer opportunities. Dems encourage sloth.

So, I'm not sure what you mean by tolerant. But Reps have historically treated minorities as people, and expected them to act as such. Dems have historically treated minorities as children who cannot take care of themselves.
