Private company - 70 employees. Closed for Xmas eve and did not pay their employees when the close was "mandatory."

yes. Unless you have a written contract that guarantees you a specific number of hours per week, they are under no obligation to pay you if they decide to close for any reason.

Yes. Paid holidays are not required. A company can chose to close for a holiday but does not have to pay the employees for it. Some companies will offer paid holidays as a benefit, but a smaller company may not.

So you can either take the 1 day with out pay or use vacation time to make it up.

You have to be paid for all hours worked. Does a company have to pay employees if they are closed on Sundays? Holidays are no different.

Yes they can it is up to the company as to what they do and don't give for holiday pay.

Florida is a "right to work" State. They can do as they please as far as closing. They can also fire you for no/any reason.
