I dont understand why theres pretty much no news coverage of Guantanamo Bay at all, and doesn't the use of it go against Americas Human Rights and all that too?

Because it never really was a story. The libs bled it for everything that it was worth. It has always been there, and it will continue. And the last time I checked there were no Americans having their civil rights ruined there, just criminals from terrorist organizations. They are not prisoners of war, so they have less rights than POW's do. They are unlawful combatants, there is a big difference.

Interesting question and the answer is that there really is limited access to the base and, more importantly, really not all that much news. Despite the crying most of the prisoners there are better treated then they would be in their own countries and Americans are more concerned about what they did or plan to do then whether or not they are comfortable. The whole question of rights in interesting-one reason that Gitmo was chosen was simply that it is leased territory and not part of America so it is not even certain that civil rights exists for non-US prisoners help there. I would stack America's Human Rights record up against Russia, China, Iran, Egypt, Israel, Pakistan, India, Japan, Germany, Britain, Cuba and countless other countries-the reason Americans think about there rights being impinged on is because they have so many more then most other countries.

Considering that there is only a fraction of the people held there as compared to initially, and the evidence against the remaining ones is pretty high, I don't think its as controvesial as it was before. You had to look for it in the coverage, but they have been releasing people from GITMO for a while now.

The Pentagon is doing as it should have done all along, keep military operations classified.

Why should it give military failures like the Clinton's anymore fodder than it already has, to keep its silly "here's what i am going to do for the American people today " diatribe alive.

Guantanamo is a military base that guards captured enemies of the US, who are known to have fought against, planned against, and perhaps killed American troops, allies, and interests of this country.

You can take your human rights and wipe your nose with it. The Geneva convention allows us to line these lower than life fanatics, up against a wall, and blow the brains out, but we don't. Instead, we coddle their sorry butts, feed them better than those guarding them, give them a koran to read, even staff the base with a Muslim Chaplain.

What the hell more do you want. We won't send them home to plan against our troops, once again because some silly Ms Do Right, thinks it is the proper thing to do. Any other suggestions, genius ?

Do not be worried about the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay because the country that host that base has worst prisons than Gitmo or do you not care about those people.

Because it's boring, nothing new has happened there since the camp was set up in 2002.

It there were Human Rights Abuses that would be interesting and it would be on the news, too bad for you there isn't.

Gitmo is a very top-secret place. Even if there was any news, no pictures can be taken so the inmates can't mastermind an escape plan. Besides, what kind of news goes on there???

It's not the type of story that generates ratings, which is all new agencies care about. On another note, after 9/11, you will be hard pressed to find an American that really cares about alleged abuses and torture of suspected terrorists.

The biggest reason is probably because people began to notice how none of the claims of abuse could be substantiated.

The really sad part of this whole affair is that when what we did there finally is declassified and the people you have been accusing can vindicate themselves - nobody will care.
