Hi! My dream is to be a civil rights attorney. I am a junior in college right now studying hard to get a good g.p.a to get into a top law school. So do civil rights attorneys handle litigation in civil courts such as sexual abuse cases and discrimination? Do they not do anything in criminal law and just do torts? Court TV anchor Lisa Bloom is really inspiring to me! She sued the boy scouts of America successfully because they would not let a girl in. She is so inspiring! Do you think I be a civil rights attorney like her? Does that mean I would file lawsuits for people that were discriminated based on sex, race, national origin, physical handicap, sexual orientaion, etc? Does that also include sexual abuse and rape cases? I want to help victims and people that don't have a voice!

I just finished watching it. Didn't think Michael Moore was so great. Listened to the talking heads on CNN hammer him. Fat cats really hate him and I now see why. I saw the first thing he did on GE and it was pretty good and informative. "Sicko" is powerful, to me. Please take the time to watch it. I thought I knew anything he might have in it. I was wrong. Very wrong.

the establishment government/media does not want the american people to know his message. how can a man polling at 4% lead the republicans in money and donations since june with 24 million dollars since june, especially when the news media treats him like the plague. the same establishment media/government that sold us this war to enforce UN resolutions that the vast majority of americans think was wrong now.

the man has over 120,000 donations this quarter totaling over 18.5 million dollars. how can so many regular americans completely agree with dr paul so much on so many issues, yet others hate him. he has a perfect consitutional voting record. with congressional approval rating in the teens for so long, why can't people actually search him out and think for themselves instead of marching to the drumbeat of the establishment status quo? will this country ever get back on track?

Police told paramedics several times that she was still breathing, but the paramedics didn't help her. Temperatures were around 29` F and she was left under a tarp for two hours before the medical examiner who arrived at the scene said she was still alive. The young woman died two days later from her injuries. The fire chief said, "There's nothing to apologize for. We weren't driving the vehicle that hit the car."

If you were the family of the young woman, what would you think about the fire chief's statement?

I am very interested in pursuing Army Jag. I think I have a good shot (order of the coif and clerkship), but a couple things in my past make me worry. The first is a DUI when I was 20, but that's not too big a deal. The real concern is drug use. I've tried a bunch. I've never had what I consider a problem - I just did it for fun when it was around. I started late in college, continued in law school, and (very) rarely afterwards. I can honestly say giving it up is no problem - I essentially have, and don't miss it.

So, what are my odds of getting shot down? Should I wait a couple more years so when I apply I can say its been X number of years 100% clean?

Congress OKs Va Tech-inspired gun bill, Dec. 19, 2007

WASHINGTON - Congress on Wednesday passed a long-stalled bill inspired by the Virginia Tech shootings that would more easily flag prospective gun buyers who have documented mental health problems. The measure also would help states with the cost.

"Rather than focusing on improving the current laws prohibiting people with certain mental health disabilities from buying guns, the bill is now nothing more than a gun lobby wish list," said Kristen Rand, legislative director of the Violence Policy Center. "It will waste millions of taxpayer dollars restoring the gun privileges of persons previously determined to present a danger to themselves or others."

The original bill would require any agency, such as the Veterans Administration or the Defense Department, to notify a person flagged as mentally ill and disqualified from buying or possessing a gun...

I have called the LAPD and the LA county sherriff's dept narcotics division to give them information on a drug dealer. I know his first name, his cell phone number and the street that he gives the stuff to my girlfriend. I don't know his last name. Is there a reason other than just shear workload why they don't stake out that area, or put a tail on my gf and follow her as she drives to the drug dealer? I want this guy taken off the streets.

PLEASE HELP, WHAT CAN I DO?

I have seen in my own community a person who was innocent of a crime, yet took a polygraph and failed it. He was later released as his alibi was rock solid. Yet - had he not had an alibi - then what....the police would automatically consider him a strong suspect based on those results. Otherwise, why would they ask. Isn't this an injustice to assume just because a person refuses to take a polygraph, that he be considered a suspect based on that refusal. Couldn't it be the person is smart enough to know you don't gamble with your life based on unreliability ?
