Police told paramedics several times that she was still breathing, but the paramedics didn't help her. Temperatures were around 29` F and she was left under a tarp for two hours before the medical examiner who arrived at the scene said she was still alive. The young woman died two days later from her injuries. The fire chief said, "There's nothing to apologize for. We weren't driving the vehicle that hit the car."
If you were the family of the young woman, what would you think about the fire chief's statement?

I don't think race was an issue - this was a team of paramedics who deemed her "unsavable" and triaged her to the back of the line. If you think it matters, though, she was white.

i would just respond with a lawyer saying see you in court for wrongful death for failure to render aid and the act of duty. they do not even make note of it being a triage which would have made sense in some aspects but not 2hours worth of waiting with no attention once the others were sent off in ambulances and police officers telling them she was still breathing.

Wow these guys are a disgrace to my profession. I would just like to reassure every one that this IS NOT how paramedics act. Like I said these guys are total and complete idiots. There needs to be a major investigation into this EMS system to determine if this is just a problem of a one or two idiot medics or if this a problem of an incompetint EMS system. The family of this poor girl is going to rip the medics as well as the EMS system apart.

while it was a completely insensitive comment, there is only so much they could have done.
Also, if it was the paramedics who weren't acting, why is the chief of fire being asked to apologise?

They need to be charged with a crime, i don't think that i would be able to tolerate someone letting my family member die, They should not be aloud to work in the rescue service,
When my grandma had to be lifeflighted the helicopter got sent to the wrong stop and when she did make it to the hospital every emt and lifeflight crew that had helped her personally came to her room and apoligized that it took them so long to get her help.
