I just finished watching it. Didn't think Michael Moore was so great. Listened to the talking heads on CNN hammer him. Fat cats really hate him and I now see why. I saw the first thing he did on GE and it was pretty good and informative. "Sicko" is powerful, to me. Please take the time to watch it. I thought I knew anything he might have in it. I was wrong. Very wrong.

one doofus answer thinks it about cuba. she only saw the CNN anti Michael Moore bs report. you only have to rent it and then decide. it is important. sad how people think the media actually works. Michael Moores is not positioning his work as balanced journalism. that is not the point. it collects a ton of facts and edits it down to something digestible and extremely informative. it is powerful food for thought not THE CURE!

for the most part, i read these answers and become so much more aware how well the news media brainwashing program is working. people take CNN's word for what this documentary )visual essay) is about. wouldn't watch, don't need to know? have a made up your mind without ever looking at it? you really do deserve what you will get.

I am a Republican but I watched his film.
I agree with you that it was a well done presentation of his views.
I have to say though that Hillary, if she is the nominee, has a plan of compulsory private medical insurance as her means to "universal health care". Romney has a very similar plan in fact. If one wants a health care system akin to something like Moore was suggesting throughout the film...then Hillary is no option.

Michael Moore is a dishonest scumbag plain and simple. And if you were dumb enough to get taken in by his "documentary" without even bothering to consult the source, you should stay home in November for everyone's sakes.
Try asking people who have actually LIVED in countries with socialized medicine before making a judgment, don't just take a man who openly and unapologetically hates the US at his word.

"Sicko" is just about as anathema to propaganda as "Triumph of the Will."
I have lived in several European countries with Socialized Medicine, and I can tell you right now that while our healthcare system in the United States needs improvements Socialized medicine IS NOT the answer. I saw "Sicko" while I was living in Sweden, and so did all of my Swedish and Norwegian friends ... I kid you not, the first thing out of every single one of their mouths after the movie was over was "Michael Moore is full of crap!" Most of them were reticent about how deceptive Moore was in displaying such a one-sided portrayal of Socialize Medicine.
This might surprise you, but Socialized medicine isn't the golden ticket most people make it out to be -- it is really only beneficial when you require only remedial medical attention ... as soon as something big comes along its the queue. And, I hate to say it, but the percentage of doctors who are grossly incompetent is outrageously high.
Go to any country with Socialized healthcare and just talk to random people about their views on their healthcare system -- I'm going to tell you right now for about every 10 people you talk to 8-9 will start a mini-diatribe on how much they hate Socialized medicine. It's not unusual for persons with serious medical problems in these countries to come to ... you guessed it ... the United States when their life is really on the line. Some shell out over $50,0000 to have medical procedures done in the United States (because they want it done right) -- they don't rely on their Socialized healthcare unless they have no other choice.
You might want to do some actual research on Socialized healthcare, before you just believe what Michael Moore is telling you ... you'd be amazed how much information he is hiding from you.

It was definitely a powerful movie and much better than Moore's previous efforts I thought. However, after looking at the health care plans of the candidates, the only one who advocates the kind of health care Moore is looking for is Dennis Kucinich. Hillary's plan does nothing to manage cost or quality, placing most of the burden on employers. Of the front runner plans Obama's seems like the best since it provides more options for people and holds the insurance and pharmaceutical companies accountable for maintaining certain standards. Also it's a lot more likely that some Republicans would actually vote for it. It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction on all fronts I think.

We do need health care reform but not socialized medicine. We have socialized medicine in the form of the VA system ask veterans what they think of that system. We do need something though so our corporations can be as competitive as foreign ones. It would be nice though if we didn't have to wait til the next election since its been 20 years since I've seen a doctor and I bleed when I urinate I'm not sure I can wait that long.

I am glad that you are so willing to consult popular entertainers before you make decisions as important as the Presidential elections.
Do you also look for hidden meaning in old Green Acres episodes before deciding.
If you really want to make an informed decision you might want to consult one of those psychic hot-lines, I understand psychic energy CAN be transferred through a phone line.

Oh---please,
Moore is the one person I know of that profited from the IRAQ WAR.
His "DOCUMENTARIES" are misleading as to be down right fraudulent.
If MOORE got sick and had to go to the hospital--IT would be an AMERICAN DOCTOR TREATING HIM NOT A CUBAN!
FIDEL learned that a little to late.
