I'm currently living in Florida. I was an E-5 transferred to the Navy on my 12 year in The USCG and was in the NAVY Reserve for approximately a year. Then went into inactive reserve for the remainder of my contract.

With the Army, the rule is, if you can finish 20 by your 60th birthday, you are good.

So even if the CG or Navy will not take you back, you could do 8 years in the Army reserve.

The Army web site says they will take prior service up to age 59. The trick is you have to have to be able to complete 20 years active before your 60th birthday.

Maybe the same concept exists for Army Reserve and you could get your 20 Reserve years by 59. I think the prior service cutoff for the active Navy is 42.

Good Luck

I would check on the reserve status they have increased the age to enlist to 36 years of age if you take your 12 years off your age that would make you three years over the cut off but if your rate is need badly the wavier maybe easier to get.
The best of luck

the cut off is 35 years of age , i served 6 years and i more experience than the new boot but because i'm 53 they say i'm too old, i guess it wouldn't be hard to shoot a slow moving old man in their eyes

The military has a waiver for everything. I went into basic at 28 on a waiver. Try it.
